campus chest robert bond chairman of campus chest has announced that today is the second pledge date postcards have been sent to all students hold ing pledges and contributions may be submitted in arcadia office or to solicitors in the various living groups he ur ges those students who did not meet their pledge payments on the last date to do so now two students at confab on u s far east policy an offensive we must realize that there is no choice of sur vival without total mobiliza tion no victory without sac rifice we must prepare to face frightful destruction and serious defeats before final victory discussing other actions in the present crisis he stated that we see w w 111 page 2 dunlap calls for war to destroy red rule total military mobilization and the launching of a punitive war in the name of human decency were urged by prof auric n dun lap department of international relations in a talk to members of tau beta pi national engineering honorary fraternity at their ann ual banquet at shankweilers monday night the speaker called for complete destruction of the soviet regime and liberation of 300 million peo ple now under the heel of the kremlin in my opinion that is the only choice left to us which holds any hope of success he declared in discussing what's ahead in the present crisis pointing out that such an offensive would not be a pre ventative war but a punitive war prof dunlap declared before we can launch such two ex-marines to coach boxers in new i-m loop robert bond and frederick ger aci experienced ex-marine corps boxers will give instruction to those students interested in par ticipating in the physical educa tion depariment's newly-formed intramural boxing league week days from 2 to 5 p.m the instruc tors will officiate at the prelimin ary bouts before the finals to be held in february or march the bouts consisting of three two-minute periods with one min ute rest periods will be fought with 12 oz gloves and will be in the following weight classes 127 135 145 155 165 175 pounds a five-pound weight allowance will be made the lightest classes will be fought first pachter hopkins win 120 in williams debate final sidney pachter arts 53 and george hopkins arts 54 both representing town council de feated john kaltenthaler bus 52 and clifford walker m.e 52 both of theta chi in the final round of the williams prize de bate contest monday in packard laboratory the town men took first prize of 120 the theta chi men won 80 judges for the debate were jon hopkins instructor in speech and debate coach dr edgar riley professor of english and dr burke sev ers chairman of the williams prize committee dr severs in presenting the decisions and awards comment ed on the trouble judges had in deciding the winner the choice was made on a split decision only after considerable discussion he said frank funk of the speech de partment tape-recorded the de bate for presentation on the radio workshop smile arnie all the men of dravo a-l were sec ond annual student conference on united states affairs at west point last week under discussion at the conference was the united states far eastern policy problems and objectives ol the 19505 the main topic was sub-divided into four ca tegories corresponding to major geographic areas of the world as follows india and pakistan southeast asia china and formosa and ja pan and korea meuter a government major and member of phi alpha theta pi gamma mv and the political science assembly participated in the discussions on china and for mosa mills a member of the spanish club the foreign policy association and the international relations club joined with those interested in india and pakistan both men were chosen to repre sent lehigh because of their spe cial interests and accomplish of harold r tharp of moravian and prof william h schempf of le high organist will be george l gansz of the lehigh music de partment the vespers will include music from the 15th century to modern carols the lehigh orchestra will open with sarabande by han del and in dulce jubilo by bach as arranged by prof schempf the processional o come all ye faithful will be followed by a greeting from
