yesterday by william h bohn ing assistant registrar elementary mechanics was changed from may 20 8 a m to may 30 8 a m engineering lab m e 19 from may 28 2 p m to 8 a m of the same day thermodynamics m e 33 from may 25 2 p m to may 24 2 p m non-ferrous metallurgy met 24 from may 24 8 a.m to 2 p m of the same day prob lems in iron and steel from may 24 8 a m to 2 p m of the same day oil field prac tice from may 29 8 a m to may 30 ba m there were six courses in romance languages listed under physics the exam ination dates for these courses were correct in the first list that was posted the lovers from 170 cities and towns in 22 states the district of columbia canada and france are attending the music presentation the visitors who are attending are musicians organists choral leaders music leaders and others interest ed in the music of bach sings chorals the choir which is assisted by the philadelphia philo-symphonic orchestra sings the two mightiest choral works of bach mass in b honorary debating society at the final meet ing tuesday afternoon in packard laboratory walter guyer ch e 36 was chosen president howard koller ch e 37 is to be vice president peter potochney arts 37 is secre tary-treasurer ; eugene uhler arts 37 corresponding manager doug las edwards arts 38 assistant manager and david hoppock i.e 36 social manager by constitutional amendment the society decided to add the position of assistant manager to the list of officers his duties are to arrange the freshman schedule in conjunc tion with the varsity manager in applying for membership stu dents may consider three freshman debates as equivalent to one var sity debate two varsity debates or their equivalents make one eligible for membership lehigh wins eight in presenting a report on the year's white and the mustard and cheese club were at one time student managed di rected and controlled activities students who participate in them now however receive instruction and university credit dr critical service con ducted by the associated collegiate press of the national scholastic press association from results just announced it was learned that the brown and white scored 800 out of a possible 1,000 points according to the stan dards set up by the association there are five classes of newspaper ratings the ail-american rating is the highest of all prof dale h gramley faculty adviser to the brown and white states that of 214 college newspapers which were included in the survey less than 15 received this superior rating features superior high credit was received by the brown and white for its feature ar ticles and editorials the sports section received a perfect score the points on which the paper appeared weakest were those in volving make-up and headline styles in several instances weak ness was noted in the content of news stories but the rating for this section of tne survey was excel lent this survey is conducted every year by the national scholastic press association which is connect ed with the department of journal ism at the university of minnesota it is not a contest and no prizes are awarded the annual national convention of the associated elected officers of delta omicron theta honorary debating society at the final meet ing tuesday afternoon in packard laboratory walter guyer ch e 36 was chosen president howard koller ch e 37 is to be vice president peter potochney arts 37 is secre tary-treasurer ; eugene uhler arts 37 corresponding manager doug las edwards arts 38 assistant manager and david hoppock i.e 36 social manager by constitutional amendment the society decided to add the position of assistant manager to the list of officers his duties are to arrange the freshman schedule in conjunc tion with the varsity manager in applying for membership stu dents may consider three freshman debates as equivalent to one var sity debate two varsity debates or their equivalents make one eligible for membership lehigh wins eight in presenting a report on the year's work harry k ellis e e 35 retiring president showed that 29 intercollegiate meetings were held of the 23 varsity debates le high won eight and lost six nine club wednesday evening one hundred and five alumni heard dean c m mcconn trace the development of the educational side of extra curricular activities at lehigh at a meeting of the new york lehigh club wednesday eve ning in the club rooms of the building trades employers asso ciation park avenue dean mcconn showed how activ ities on the campus have become official credit courses in the uni versity during the past five years both the brown and white and the mustard and cheese club were at one time student managed di rected and controlled activities students who participate in them now however receive instruction and university credit dr benjamin miller head of the department of geology spoke brief ly john w maxwell assistant edi tor of the alumni bulletin was the third member of the party which represented the campus club initiates eleven men fort miller and w eil speak to pi mv epsilon at banquet wednesday eleven student were initiated into pi mv epsilon honorary mathe matical society at a dinner wed nesday evening held at the sun inn h b jennings assistant professor of mechanical engineering a pledge was unable to be present for his initiation a r miller assistant professor of electrical engineering spoke on the applications of mathematics in engineering he pointed out that the real practical value of mathematics in cited instances such as the boulder dam hydro-electric ing in the fifteenth ail-american newspaper critical service con ducted by the associated collegiate press of the national scholastic press association from results just announced it was learned that the brown and white scored 800 out of a possible 1,000 points according to the stan dards set up by the association there are five classes of newspaper ratings the ail-american rating is the highest of all prof dale h gramley faculty adviser to the brown and white states that of 214 college newspapers which were included in the survey less than 15 received this superior rating features superior high credit was received by the brown and white for its feature ar ticles and editorials the sports section received a perfect score the points on which the paper appeared weakest were those in volving make-up and headline styles in several instances weak ness was noted in the content of news stories but the rating for this section of tne survey was excel lent this survey is conducted every year by the national scholastic press association which is connect ed with the department of journal ism at the university of minnesota it is not a contest and no prizes are awarded the annual
