hon l h rupp ex district attorney of lehigh county who will be remembered as one of the speakers at the 1919 class ban quet and r parke hutchinson 04 president and general manager ot the bethlehem fabricators inc among the invited guests will be dr n m emery 11 r bosey reiter and w r okey okeson music will be furnished by the university five tickets are ob tainable from j r farrington phi delta theta house p m frank 32.8 packer aye r 1 billinger section e taylor haii w h sayre sigma phi and j k m huebner chi psi house subscrip tion price is 4.00 per ticket fraternity pool league makes little progress the baseball team opens the sea son next saturday afternoon when the university of vermont meets the brown and white on the home diamond the game will be played after the lacrosse game and will start about 3.30 p m the early spring has enabled the team to get a good start and it is unusually far advanced for this sea son of the year the team which starts the game saturday will con tain several new men not on the squad last year sehring from last year's freshman team will be be hind the bat ; simpson on third and rogers a freshman on first all three of these men have been show ing up well especially in hitting and are expected to add materially to the offensive strength with rote on second and donovan at short the infield combination will be fast and strong defensively cap vain sa.aria will hold down center field with larkin in left and thompson in right lees will prob ably start in the box vermont is said to have a strong team again this year last year on lehigh's northern trip the game with vermont was called on account of rain at the end of the fourth inning with the score a tie this year vermont will probably not be in as good playing condition as lehigh as they are mucti farmer north and have not had the advan tage of early warm weather several other men on the squad have shown up well and may be used in later games markowitz an outfielder seems to have first call as a substitute another pitcher lee has been going well in practice he shows the makings of a good box man lehigh's probable line-up rote 2b ; and those who show best ability in j the parts played are the ones recom mended this amendment was | made for several reasons it doet | away with any politics in the elec i tions of new members and thus j gives every mam a fair chance j whether a fraternity or non-frater nity man it also offers a much keener competition and requires i that a man not merely takes part in i a production to become a member i but that he exerts his greatest ef l forts in order to be rated among the first ten men three of the ten men to be chosen annually include an assistant business manager an • assistant electrician and an assist ant carpenter so that from the two annual productions seven of the men playing parts are elected when the call is made for the first tryouts it is hoped that even a : larger number of men will report than was the case for the last show men of all classes have an equal chance to make the club now and there is no required number of shows a man must take part in tc i become a member everything is i now run on a purely competitive ;
