class day exercises open activities program for the victory reunion 1919 to be held on dr drinker's lawn at 3.30 p.m annual alumni address by w r okeson 96 baccalaureate sermon sunday 11 a.m activities include all old customs extend over a three=day period will be held in drown hall at 9 o'clock revival of a custom with the alumni game with la fayette tomorrow afternoon the brown and white baseball team will complete a season which from the standpoint of the big games was as successful as could have been hoped for by even the most optomistic early in the season besides taking three straight and the series from lafayette the le high nine also scored victories over university of pennsylvania villa nova muhlenberg albright ur sinus and new york university for a total of nine games won out of the fifteen played giving a season average of 600 by taking the first three games of the year with ease it looked as if coach keady's boys would hang up a record equally as brilliant as the championship team of two years ago but injuries to beck and mathag and with johnson and pfeiffer both with sore arms the team hit a slump and dropped the next five out of six games all of the defeats being away from home except the syracuse contest which was the junior week attraction continued on third page then followed a period of three weeks when rain caused the can celling of all scheduled games dur ing that time but finally the weather jinx was broken and villa nova was easily defeated on taylor field with the regulars back in the line-up and the only two re liable pitchers back in shape the brown and white struck a pace which showed them to be one of the best college teams in the east the unofficial batting and field ing averages for the season up to tomorrow s game show a team aver age of 253 at bat and 938 in the field which although not as high as in some previous years is very satisfactory since many of the hits were made when hits meant runs and few of the errors were very costly johnson who has carried the brunt of the pitching burden june hop tonight in drown hall undergraduate notice gathering of the clans regis tration at drown hall friday june 27th membership cup presentation by franklin baker jr of service flag given by charlie taylor 12 m to 1 00 p.m registration at drown hall saying ' • howdy to all your long lost chums con cert by bethlehem steel band 1 00 p.m — alumni luncheon in the commons families and friends entertained by faculty ladies club who will escort them to the field directly after luncheon so as to be in time to see the parade 2:00 p.m parade of trustees faculty and alumni led by the bethlehem steel band order of the collegiate social year will be closed this evening with the june hop in drown hall the committee appointed from the junior class to make arrange ments for the event have completed all the details and have prepared for the entertainment of a large number of alumni undergraduates and friends the dance will be in formal with dancing from 8:30 until 1 00 all the undergraduate classes are invited to attend and the committee is expecting a large number of alumni who have re turned for the big day tomorrow to attend music for the occasion will be furnished by snyder's orchestra of easton refreshments will be served dur ing the intermission the chaperones for the evening are mesdiames h s drinker j l stewart r w blake barry me nutt f p mckibben and c l thornburg the class day exercises of the class of 1919 will be held this afternoon at 3 30 on president drinker's lawn the event will be witnessed by a large number of friends and relatives of the gradu ating class graduates undergradu ates and alumni and friends of the university the setting for the occasion will be most picturesque with the campus in the fine con dition it now is stretching out in front and with dr drinker's resi dence in the rear k m bevier president of the class will deliver the salutatory ad dress h r walters will give the class poem which he has written for the occasion in it he sets forth the aspirations of the class and various individuals in the class the class prophecy will be told by t c o'neill and c h tomkin son in the prophecy they promise some startling careers for different members of the class the last roll call will be taken by c g gilman the tablet ora tion will be delivered by b p lauder and the ivy oration by j d sourber music by the beth lehem steel company band will intersperse the other events on the program continued on third page following this comes an event which is somewhat of an innova all undergraduates who were in any branch of the service including of course the army and navy units of the s a t c are earnestly re quested to join in the alumni day parade here's your chance to show the alumni what kind of spirit you have this is a privilege never granted before to the undergraduate body as well as a duty to your alma mater the head of the column is expect ed to pass through the gate of taylor field at 2.30 p.m undergraduates are requested to be on hand at 2 oclock at physics lab ready to form in column of fours see program elsewhere in this number for many years prior to the war it was customary at lehigh for the president of the university to hold a reception on some evening dur ing commencement week owing to war pressure this custom was temporarily dispensed with but it is to be revived this year the re ception this year will be much the same as those held in past years no formal invitation will be issued everyone who cares to attend is welcome but it is particularly in tended for members of the senior class and their visiting friends this year it is announced that the reception will take place in drown memorial hall at 9 p.m on satur day evening june 28th there will be dancing in the course of the evening a few t addresses will be delivered the occasion will be in formal and no set program will be followed a good attendance is expected as in addition to the graduating class and their friends a considerable number of visiting alumni usually attend a most successful time will undoubtedly be had by all who attend has pitched the brown and white to victory in three succesisive contests opposing tierney or moyer neither of whom have been very successful in fooling the lehigh batters this will be the last appearance in a le high uniform of captain coffin sam webb and dave maginnes all three being seniors this year their loss will leave three gaps in the team that w 7 ill be hard to fill jap next year as all three have played stellar ball all season and their hitting has been directly re sponsible for many of the vic tories during the past year before the game there will be a spectacular alumni parade in which all the classics will be repre sented arrangements have been made for many of the classes to be in costume and the bethlehem steel band and other similar organiza tions will be on hand to furnish the music the parade will form on the campus after the alumni luncheon and will march down to taylor stadium and around the oval with the lafayette series safely tucked away coach keady's vic torious baseball nine will endeavor to establish a record by taking four straight the game will be played tomorrow before a record break ing crowd of old 1 grads all of whom will be pulling strong
