              the report of the treasurer showed a balance of 80 on hand reports were then given by the chairmen of the bible study social handbook music missionary membership and devotional committees and on the conferences and lecture course by secretary howard the total paid up membership is 107 in regard to his successor carring ton howard this year's general sec retary stated that a member of the present senior class at yale was under consideration but that noth ing definite could be stated until the meeting of the advisory committee president lynch brought up the question of establishing a fund for the aid of those who desire to attend the summer conferences and said that this at present amounts to about 30 a vote of thanks was extended to prof rondthaler of moravian col lawrence bayless all other men are requested to continue as chorus candidates the next rehearsal will be held monday evening at 7.30 p m in the gymna sium it is important that all men should be present promptly b p s alumni all alumni of bethlehem prep are notified that the school will give its second annual banquet on saturday march 28 at the eagle hotel a large number of guests will be pres ent and the annual election of offi cers of the alumni association will be held prior to the banquet all men who intend to go should com municate with headmaster foering members adjourned to the feast pre pared by jim myers in which the cakes furnished by the patronesses of the association were greatly en joyed the entertainment program consisted of selections by about half of the glee club a quartet composed of serfass j stobaeus mitman 09 and dickey 11 and a guitar solo by fleming 09 dr drinker gave a short talk in which he expressed his approval of the summer student con ferences and touched upon several other matters of interest he stated that drown hall will be ready for use after the easter vacation and described the different rooms on the first and second floors the bowling alleys in the basement will not be opened until september the meet ing was closed by the singing of the alma mater lecture postponed on account of illness dr n c schaffer state superintendent of public instruction was unable to give the college lecture arranged for this morning the purdue exponent for march 24th contained a discussion of col lege athletics by e h williams 75 taken from his address to a meeting of tau beta pi several years ago prof benjamin miller of the de partment of geology will address the sunday evening meeting of the y m c a a training table for the lacrosse team will be conducted at the com mons at a meeting of tau beta pi on monday night it was decided to hold the spring initiation and banquet on saturday april 11 a meeting of the wrestling club will be held at 1.45 on saturday in the gym changes or additions to the lists of honors for the senior class book may be handed in to the committee until april 1 a game has been arranged with bethlehem prep for the scrub base ball on may 20 the following committees have been appointed by president thomas of the senior class to take charge of the arrangements for the carnegie reception band ross bechtel bay drown hall the 1909 epitome will be out the week of april 5 and will be placed on sale at once at the supply bu reau a detailed account of the con tents of this year's books will be published in the next issue of the brown and white it is expected that drown hall will be open to the students after the eas ter vacation the furniture should all be in by april 10 or 15 and about a week later the palmer having invited the school to use his rooms about forty young men of the bethlehems and allentown attend as pupils they are taught by kotz 08 devine flory hess and sauber 09 and robbins 10 dr drinker visited the school last thursday and was well pleased with the class of men who come as pupils and with the work of the student-teachers the latter especially are to be complimented upon the skill with winch they meet the varied needs of the men and boys who attend the subjects at present taught are arithmetic eng lish composition algebra geometry trigonometry and german on thursday professor franklin offered a lecture to the entire school on heat it is possible that other lectures will be offered of a kind that will be directly serviceable to the pupils of the school who are em arrangements have been practically completed for the junior miners to take their summer school in mine sur veying at hazleton during the eas ter vacation this will enable them to start on the michigan trip at a much earlier date next june baseball schedule of games the first baseball game is only a week distant and the probable make up of the team is becoming an inter esting questions four practices a week have been held in the cage since the early part of march and the candidates are developing into fairly good condition just who will be on the team is of course still undecided and will remain so until the coach and captain can see the men at work on the diamond the first game with the university of vermont on next saturday after noon is likely to be a hard one ver mont has
