dancing . . . . by john hood theater-goers roared with laugh ter friday and saturday nights as the mustard and cheese players pre sented eugene o'neill's racy com edy ah wilderness the pro duction was given as part of the ifc weekend activities bill ross freshman business student obviously carried away all honors in the starring role as richard miller high-school son of nat and essie miller bill im pressed m&c audiences with his fresh exuberant portrayal of a defending champion pittsburgh was rudely knocked off its pedestal by host perm state in the 53rd annual eastern wrestling championships last weekend at perm state the new champions scored 74 points as opposed to pitt's 61 lehigh garnered 48 markers to finish third for the fourth straight year only two of the four defending champions were able to retain their championship laurels in the tournament johnny johnston of state turned back pitt's vie defelice 6-3 and dave johnson pitt's 167 pound star crushed cornell's steve friedman 8-1 in the final hotels feel date influx poetry-reading youth in love with the girl next door this marked ross's second appear ance with m&c and it woud appear that his experience at philadelphia's episcopal academy has paid off richard is a source of never ending worry to his parents played by wayne stoddard and gloria knoblach as noted in the program wayne will always be remembered for his anon anon sir as francis in henry iv part one however as nat miller he showed that he's more than able to cope with as signments other than those penned by shakespeare gloria knoblach's fine perform ance was another example of her abilities as she's been seen locally at the allentown civic theater and in many productions at cedar crest where business administration studies take up her spare time we'd like to see more of gloria and hope she'll grace broughal's decadent stage soon again as arthur another miller off spring and a yalie fred richtberg made his m&c debut there didn't seem to be much to the part and see ross page 7 local hotels felt ifc weekend as much as the student body did it all began explained one room clerk when reservations poured in about three weeks ago the influx with the exception of the names of the students involved three other students were also reported to the house president in relation to the same incident the committee recommended that the house discipline committee consider their cases the letter follows in line with the established policy of the university discipline com mittee i am sending to you infor mation as to disciplinary actions taken following recent hearings be see three page 6 pre-registration pre registration in the arts col lege will follow the general pattern established last fall according to dr glenn j christensen full de tails of student procedure will be posted on the bulletin boards of all departments he said the dates students should remem ber are these 1 pre-registration period 1-13 april ending at noon on the last day 2 all arts students should pick up their papers in the arts college office for coppee no later than 5 april 3 all students should consult their major advisors early for con ference over cornell's dick vin cent f&m's ron fleming turned back state's les walters 5-3 and heavyweight ron schirf of pitt rounded out the list of champions by sinking navy's tony stremic 5-3 in the final bout of the tourney in a surprise move by coach rex peery of pitt the panther's first four men moved down a weight class and former na tional and eastern champion bill hulings was left at home sid nodland and ed peery met in th_e 123 finals and neither of the see panthers page 10 this will be the last issue of the brown and white until april 5 due to the spring recess next week all material for that issue will be due wednesday april 3 today's issue of b&w last until after recess same campus scenes from ifc weekend 19 56 and 1957 depict the temperature contrast available only in the scenic lehigh valley the earnestly attentive students on the right are enjoying a lecture and contemplating the weekend ahead see festival page 5 group ticket sales for spring music festival will open in room 1694 of grace hall monday april 1 and continue through the following day according to jim keith 58 sales manager of festival a representative from each liv ing group should be there at the time specified below to buy tickets for his group there will be two performances of the two major sec tions of the show finian's rain bow on friday night and again saturday at 4:30 p.m and the ex travaganza at 1:30 saturday and re ifc offers dine dance dixie drink lehigh's own christmas city six stole the show efforts of this group were well received by all present at this the first dry dixie in three years ah wilderness presented by mustard and cheese at broughal junior high proved to be the type of play which the lehigh man finds palatable well acted and in terjected with enough spice to reach the college level the audi ence was generous with their ap ties the newest fraternity men were getting acquainted with fraternity life at the pledge banquet held at masonic tem ple paul banks president of the scranton delta upsilon club spoke to them on when greek meets greek saturday afternoon featured a picnic style dixieland concert al though max kaminsky and his group were billed as the star at traction and performed capably spree was furnished by ifc un fortunately it was not negotiable outside of grace hall after the dance fraternity men and their lady friends doffed their semi-formal attire whipped into bermudas and wash pants and in dulged in the favorite pastime of lehigh students drinking beer and singing songs at their respective houses this rang down the curtain on another highly successful ifc weekend plause at curtain time and during many of the scenes the main event of the week end was the monte carlo dance held saturday night in grace hall elliot lawrence and his orchestra commanded attention on the upper floor the gambling nature of the le high man led many downstairs to try their hand at roulette bird cage five card stud blackjack and the horse races money for this by al enoch exchange dinners dixie thes pians monte carlo and beer marked this year's ifc weekend festivities exchange dinners opened the gala weekend friday night of ficer meetings for
