The Richmond E. Myers collection includes drafts, rough and final, of articles published in magazines and newspapers. There is also an assortment of drafts and notes relating to research and preparation of books written by Richmond E. Myers. There are various letters and miscellaneous items within the collection including documents, leaflets, and misappropriated items.


Richmond E. Myers was born in 1903, to a family that had been local to the Lehigh valley for several generations. Myers was a member of the Central Moravian Church until his passing in 1994. Richmond's primarily studied mineralogy, and geology. His studies lead him to Europe and other places but for the most part Richmond studied the Lehigh Valley and neighboring counties. Richmond taught as a professor for a period of time at Muhlenberg College in Allentown as a professor of geological studies. In addition Richmond wrote for several newspapers, and also for magazines such as "The Pennsylvania Angler" and "Rocks and Minerals," and he published many books. Some of the books he wrote are: "The Long Crooked River," "Lehigh Valley: The Unsuspected," "Northampton County in the American Revolution," "A Sun Inn Christmas Fantasy," and "The Trombones Saved Bethlehem."
