houses eight i resident chapeiones will be liv ing in the dorms with approxi mately 250 girls shortly before noon today the first arrivals mad their appear ance for the spring houseparty weekend all but a very few of the remaining are expected to ar rive before dinner the junior class sponsors of the houseparty dance begin the weekend at 10 tonight when they present a program entitled trop ical holiday featuring the or chestras of vincent lopez and george sommers highlight of the dance will be the selection of the houseparty queen by a group of four student presidents ifc idc tc and ar cadia the queen's court eleven of the piet.iest guests will be chosen with the queen by the four presi dents who will pass among the dancers between 11 and 12 at midnight the orchestras on both floors will stop playing and the chosen girls will assemble on a special coronation stand on the lower floor of grace hall where one of them will be picked as the queen of the houseparty dance both the queen and her court will receive prizes the houseparty dance in grace hall will be decorated with wav ing palms and tropical moons plans have been made at most of the fraternities to continue the partying at evening's meeting of the student govern ment if approved the group would be the only partisan political group to appear on the campus in recent years the political sci ence assembly the only political group here at present is non partisan arthur brody 54 joel margo lis 55 and gerald wapner 55 are the originators of the project with their petition to the com mittee they submitted a list of 16 men interested in forming a democratic group according to wapner the group would affiliate with the young democratic clubs invite prominent speakers to the cam pus and discuss political issues he stressed
