from either the town or dormitory running through cold eggs soggy toast and greasy food the student committee for the betterment of lamberton hall an unauthorized organization of dor mitory men filed 27 specific com plaints with arcadia's lamberton hall committee at a meeting at noon yesterday in lamberton committee for betterment . . .", in order to strengthen its position gathered 640 signa tures to petitions urging them to continue their drive for better eating facilities and food in the campus cafeteria invited to the meeting by the lamberton hall committee mai gross chairman of the student committee and candidate for elec tion to arcadia and scblh com mittee member russel havey pre sented their 18-page report sum marized belo-w embodying sug gestions which the 20-man group believes will make the university diinng hall more than a restaur ant response to the report made public wednesday night was varied at yesterday's meeting treasurer elmer w glick a facul ty member of the standing lam berton hall committee commend ed the report and indicated that steps would be taken to investi gate the claims made in it arcadia representative golden berg who has labeled the new committee a dissenting group expressed his doubt that the group was supported by enough of the student body to give it meaning replying to this claim gross stated that the 640 names gathered on a petition indicating support of the report was a good deal more than the majority re quired for election to arcadia the names were gathered accord ing to gross in slightly over an hour wednesday night committee member j wal ter maxwell universit bur sar and fritz smith idc rep resentative said the petition did not carry the weight gross thought it did it was pointed oui that only six men had read the report thorough ly and those signing the pe tition did not know all the facts see petitions page 6 groups how the faculty drive was progressing was not known john seville chairman of the ifc blood committee in dicated that an average of 12 men per house had pledged to give one pint when the red cross unit comes here feb 28 for a two day stand five houses have 75 per cent of their members pledged however he continued some of these men will be declared unfit to donate for physical reasons because of the need for pros pective donors to be over 21 it is necessary for minors to obtain parental consent this in many cases requires students to write home delaying a final computa tion at this time deadline for pledges is monday results of the dormitory and town group drive will be avail able at the close of the pledge period a challenge to lehigh's student body was made by princeton's re cent blood donor drive in which du's mascot to leave lu when john puth bus 52 is graduated publications at a meeting wednesday afternoon in drown hall other members of b&w's executive board will be d bruce hill arts 52 managing editor george l edelstein bus 52 business manager and carl h zimmerman arts 52 editorial director flynn a journalism major has been editorial director of the pa per this semester and previously served as assistant desk editor as a member of theta kappa phi he was executive secretary and pledge manager hill also a jour nalism major was assistant man aging editor this semester edelstein moves from the post oi financial manager to that of business manager while zimmerman had been editorial director last year named to posts on the editorial side of the paper were william latshaw arts 53 news editor wes willoughby arts 53 assist ant managing editor and paul h bogardus arts 53 assistant news more men are needed to fill the technical positions on the 1952 lehigh music festival staff car penters electricians lighting and sound technicians and a sales manager must be signed up dur ing the next few weeks accord ing to johnson c blake arts 52 personnel manager of the show at the first general organi zation meeting of the year tuesday afternoon in pack lab the general outline of the production was presented conflicting meetings resulted in a smaller turn-out than was expected and all students who are interested in work ing on one of the various staffs are urged to contact blake at 6-4623 prof albert a rights technical adviser of the show described the problems which will be in volved in constructing a stage in grace hall which will be larger than the one in radio city music hall in new york city rights also outlined the light ing effects which will be used slide projection will be featured see festival page 3 robert flynn editor john commissioned in the usar and are being deferred from induction by the selective service system under the terms of an rotc de ferment agreement will be order ed into active military service during the period between june and september 1952 veterans in advanced rotc who served less than two years on active duty with the armed forces between dec 7 1941 and sept 2 1945 will also be ordered into mili tary service upon being com missioned the officeis are to be given an opportunity to select the month between june and sept 1952 in which they desire to enter active service such requests will be honored provided that at least one third of the officers in each branch will be on ac'-ive duty by july 31 two thirds oh active duty by aug 31 and the remainder by sept 30 according to the depart ment of army the newly commissioned officers will be ordered directly to the appro priate branch service school for a three month course the department a!so stated that these officers commissioned after successful completion of the ad vanced course rotc but who will not meet the academic re quirements for graduation will be
