a team representing the north ends of bethlehem this promises to be a fast game and a well-played one and a goodly crowd should be present to support the team which deserves the support of everyone due to the splendid record they have made so far this year the north ends team is by no means an inferior combination hokendauqua's eleven who were sectional champions last year went down in defeat at the hands of the north enders and lehigh will not have an easy time of it however the result of the game should turn out to be a lehigh victory due to the fact that the brown and white toe-experts beat hokendauqua early in the season the soccer artists have thus far beaten university of pennsylvania's junior varsity team and have also chalked up victories in exhibition games with hokendauqua and beth lehem steel the strong perm state eleven was held to a tie and the university of toronto team suc ceeded in winning only by a com paratively low score the team is making a strong bid for the penn sylvania league championship and should be able to get it if they con tinue to play the type of game which they have displayed so far grid opponents are in crucial tilts pi delta epsilon held a meeting in the brown and white room on wednesday evening for the pur pose of further membership elec tions the election of three seniors de serving through their literary ef forts as members of the any subject relative to college activities there are to be awarded two prizes the one receiving the largest number of credits will receive 15.00 and the runner up will receive 10.00 all the editorials will be printed in the brown and white it was suggest ed at the meeting that some time in the near future pi delta epsilon continued on page four men may still report for dramatic club a meeting of the varsity club was held in the arcadia room in drown hall last monday evening a great many men turned out and due to the fact the meeting was considered a great success this varsity club is made up of all the letter men in college and was or ganized to form a closer bond of relation and friendship between the athletes it has as its duty the ov erseeing of all affairs that pertain to athletics and are too trivial for the lehigh university athletic as sociation to attend to even in cases regarding the awarding of a letter the varsity club has a great deal to say the meeting was called to order and l e bray 23 was appointed temporary chairman there was a great deal of minor discussion and business that was not very import ant and then came the question of how to eliminate the idea that has been abroad about the university lately that a man who wore his varsity letter around college was conceited this of course was a very delicate subject because the men who win their letter are en titled to wear it and should get the publicity that naturally comes of displaying it the idea of wearing an insignia somewhat like the aver age pledge pin or button as it may be called was advanced this shows that a man had made his let ter and at the same time it would eliminate the gaudiness and bulki ness of a sweater it met with the approval of all members and only needs a little more encouragement to push it through it was decided to have the next meeting on monday evening in drown hall the next subject to be brought up was that of election of officers the following men were nominated : — for president — l e bray 23 e c coxe 23 a cusick 23 j lees 23 and j darsie 23 for vice-president j storer 25 g thompson 24 j read 23 for treasurer k swartzbach 23 h underwood 23 and p saturday the game beginning at 2:30 o'clock on taylor field still smarting under the defeat handed them last year the brown and white are this year out for re venge and are sure to pile up a high score against the allentown collegians just to remind them that they always cannot be lucky coach johnny spiegel came out of the west about the first of september and according to the school press agent brought the whole of the university of michi gan team with him daily articles in the metropolitan newspapers re cited the wonderful deeds which the team would do this year fore most in their expectations was the decision to again beat lehigh things ran true to form until the season opened the cardinal and grey met the stroudsburg normal school at allentown on september 23rd and although the schoolboys were defeated 33 to 0 the allento nians showed absolutely nothing andrews supposed to be the uni versity of michigan quarterback got into the game for a few min utes but seemed to be in a quan dary what it was all about the fullback gebhart almost disrupted the team with his quarrels after ev ery play syracuse was met the following saturday on the field of the orange heralded as a powerful small col lege gridiron band the muhlenberg clan failed to show a great deal of strength against syracuse and the allentown lads were downed 47 to 0 this band the wearers of the cardinal and grey came back to allentown a forlorn aggregation what could the trouble be now always ready with alibis the al lentown newspapers advanced the theory that the poor showing was probably due to the fact that spie gel had too many men to supervise and that he should be given an as sistant bill ritter a former star at the allentown institution at once volunteered now muhlen berg was off continued on page four sure enough when the following saturday rolled around muhlen berg defeated the university of delaware 12 to 0 however it was said that muhlenberg could probably have run up a higher score had it not been that crum was out of the line-up in this game the line already showed im colgate whom lehigh tackles at johnson city a week from to-mor row should have little trouble in defeating susquehanna one of the games that will be of great interest to the followers of the brown and white will be that between buck nell and pittsburgh bucknell one of the hardest teams remaining on lehigh's schedule gave lafayette a stiff battle for her 27 to 7 win and had the honor of being the first team to cross her goal-line this season pitt which ranks about on a par with lafayette will give bucknell about the same kind of opposition and if bucknell shows improvement over the lafayette game lehigh may know what to expect from her on november 11th lebanon valley meets washington college in a game of minor import ance to the brown and white the ; fracas between our old rival down the river and boston college ap pears to be a one-sided affair but boston is the sort of a college that turns out some mighty scrappy teams and the result may be sur prising indeed if boston holds lafayette to a small score it can be figured out what lehigh's scrap py team will do when doc suther land's pride is met on march field on november 25th notice the days for the practice of the freshman wrestling team will be changed from the present days to monday and wednesday afternoons at 4 o'clock ex-captain e h coxe 23 makes a plea for more men to turn out for the practices and urges particularly the heavy men it is necessary that all men who expect to come out for the team to come out now as they should be in good condition when the football season closes and the football men come out these grid iron men will be in good shape and in order to compete with them the other 26 men
