friday october 27 1950 dear diary well today is the beginning of some social function here at the university that is called house party my it's expensive our living group is having a small get-together this evening and girls are coming i we spent all our spare time today cleaning up the dormitory so that it would look presentable for any parents that may drop in during the pro ceedings but the big event of the even ing is going to be the formal dance where i am going to wear , my new tuxedo oh won't it be grand to waltz around the dance floor with sweet patricia in my arms saturday october 28 1950 dear diary we just had a ginger time last nite the refreshments at the party were adequate and the dance was just divine but so many of he's she's to fly high at stadium seems as though one of the boys in brown key was influ enced by a burly show and thinks they oughta have balloons at the ball game with rutgers tomorrow so the stalwarts of the b.k are gonna sell balloons filled with helium two for a quarter when the big brown scores its first touchdown against rutgers at the sound of the cannon all us loyal le high fans are supposed to let loose with the balloons ... at the same time that is added note each baloon has lu on it and the he balloons have he on them the she bal loons she pretty cute we think and we also think every guy going to the game oughta gel a balloon for him and his she help brown key fellas cause they're tryin to help lehigh doin a pretty good job too royal family on way out history professor william a 1 aiken will exhibit his collection of mementos of william 111 next week in the library according to the professor this king is one of the six greatest rulers ever to sit on the english throne and the 1 last truly great leader which england has been privileged to enjoy i which would seem to indicate that the other five greatests preceded bill three on the british ihrone which would in turn seem y to indicate that the old gray mon archy is not what it used to be someone should tell princess elizabeth motto that's the spirit an apple a day . . . alp not on our housel joe sent me you can't take it with you hid no dumping hey marvin bercrer muhlenbera weekly editor if the bell in packer hall rings tomorrow to herald a lehigh vic tory over rutgers it will be the first time it has rung since last week this bell has had a hard lime all its life — and we must not wear it out when lehigh was founded in 1865 the bell hung in old christ mas hall before there was a sau con four years later it was mov ed to the newly-built packer hall and for a long time it served as the chapel bell now we have a chapel the chapel has a bell everywhere you go there is a bell packer hall's bell rang in 1936 it rang again last saturay it has earned a rest as a public service brown and white herewith lists a few of the lehigh valley's natural resource which may be tapped for house party dates there is still time crest cedar crest college is located some two miles west of the heart of allentown on r 222 which is hamilton st extended buses leave allentown's center square and pass by the college every once in a while some of them re turn if you know where to look there are two dormitories there are no bars on the win dows there are no bars any where else within 1,000 yards ir is a long walk there is diagonal parking on the main road this year last year they had in-line parking it doesn't make much difference but there are several see dates page 2 advance items in diary list lad's sad downfall arcadia forms new council of living groups formation of an advisory and coordinating council to consist of the presidents of arcadia idc ifc and town council was for mally approved by arcadia at its meeting wednesday night at the same time plans were disclosed for the selection of who's who on the lehigh cam pus and a campaign for campus improvements the group also put its stamp of approval on the regular method of faculty evalua tion and discussed the success of the student leadership forum to air problems as set up the advisory and coordinating council will have as its purpose the consideration of problems involving differences between the various groups this body cannot make decisions but can forward suggestions to the groups involved the committee on campus im provements plans to make a con certed effort to obtain construc tive suggestions from the student body letters publicizing the campaign will be sent to the var ious living-group heads a committee consisting of three students and deans congdon leith and seidle will meet mon day to select the who's who for 1950 these lehigh students don't know how to dance like i learned at miss dowager's school they kept falling all over the floor and dropping things that sounded like glassware then some ruffian stepped up to me and demanded a dance with my date i immedi ately repelled his advances to ward patricia but evidently he was a wrestler because he tied my tuxedo up in knots and threw it in a tree when he had left me outside while climbing the tree i must have gotten something in my eye see diary page 2 glee clubbers gird selves for surgery lehigh university brown and white unidentified sources revealed today that in order to alleviate the shortage of tenors in lehigh's glee club several baritones have consented to undergo major op
