by mustard and cheese dramatic society announced mal colm carrington jr 39 president of the club last night under the revised system mem bership in the club may be gained by earning a total of four points as an actor or a member of the stage staff or business staff one point equals active participation and co operation in one club production the constitution also provides that the executive council of the club may reduce to associate mem bership any member of the club who displays lack of interest and cooperation the purpose of the constitution is to form a society of 30 active working members cap able of producing high calibre shows according to carrington o e e juniors may receive summer employment interviews with regard to sum mer employment have been given to several juniors of the electrical enginering department by william schuler representative of the day ton power and light company the policy of interviewing jun iors said stanley s seyfert head of the department of was a three-sports man during his undergraduate career at purdue he won varsity letters in football basketball and baseball for three years after winning numerals in these sports and in tennis as well as a freshman he was a member of purdue's undefeated football team which tied for the big ten title in 1929 he was also a mem ber of the team which won the title in 1928 harmeson played a halfback po sition in football guard in basket ball and the outfield in baseball he was all-conference halfback in 1929 he is a native of indianapolis ind and is 31 years old he is married and has one son o high school in the dance drama entitled o libertad all of the numbers included on tonight's program have been cre ated and taught by shawn and offer a program of wide variety dances to be presented as solos and group routines range from dances of the barbarians to ab stract themes material for these dances was drawn from various phases of azetic and american history 24 numbers on program featured on this evening's pro gram of 24 numbers will be the college athletic routine the open ing solo of the group will be by barton mumaw who was the first member of the all-male company to present a program at the lew isohn stadium in new york city several seasons ago his role will be that of a banner bearer enter ing the stadium of the olympic games the second group of this act will present three cheer leaders at a football game the roles of the cheer leaders will be taken by frank overlees who was one of the original members of the troupe dennis landers pole-vault record holder in oklahoma and kansas and wilbur mccormack wrestler and gym letter winner at springfield college foster fitz-simons will depict 10 track and field events — broad jump shotput discus the hurdles javelin running events high jump and pole vault in the third number in this series the essential rhythms of fencing will be danced by fred hearn and dennis landers while mccormack will perform the training of a box er as well as the winning of the bout in the ring basketball dance ends suite this suite will end with a dance based on the rhythms and move ments of basketball landers cre ated this dance in which he will perform with hearn overlees mumaw and mccormack over lees created the cheer leaders rou tine fitz-simons the track num ber and mccormack his study of a boxer all of the musical accompani authority was discussed at the meeting of the aero club wednesday night in room 466 packard laboratory this plan provides for the train ing of 20,000 american students so that they may get their private pilot's licenses these students are to be chosen from about 1,000 diff erent colleges and universities in the country carrington and stoughton awarded main roles in modern drama malcolm of an illust rated lecture by howard j god frey engineer of tests wednesday night at fritz laboratory godfrey gave a brief review of the history and manufacture of cold-drawn steel wire and the eff ect of coldwork in the physical properties of steel he described a new fatigue machine for testing wire and discussed the fatigue properties of wire stadium would be used in place of chapel could seat 2,800 gift committee chosen ballots will be placed in the arcadia office in drown hall and the supply bureau this week so that the opinion of the entire sen ior class on the proposal to hold graduation in taylor stadium rather than the chapel may be learned this measure was adopted at the senior class meeting wed nesday in packard auditorium the results of this poll and the written vote taken at the meeting will be put in a petition and pre sented for faculty approval alan s grant i e class president told the meeting that an investiga tion by john w maxwell 26 manager of the supply bureau showed the chances of rain on the date of graduation to be one in ten if the plan is adopted grant said sections c to g in the south stands will be used by the specta tors students and faculty will sit on folding chairs in front of the stands and the speakers will be seated on a platform although the use of the chapel permits each senior only three guests the stadium which under this plan wil accomodate 2,800 vis itors will give each senior eight guest accomodations in case of rain the services will be held as usual in the chapel and the extra guests will hear the ceremonies by loudspeaker in packard auditor ium plan discussed last year this is not the first time that such a plan has been discussed by the seniors last year's graduating class voted to hold its exercises in the stadium but the plan was thrown out by the committee on educational policy expenses for the traditional cer emonies in the chapel should not exceed 50 grant said but the outdoor exercises would cost at least 150 because of the necessity for chair rentals the installation of a public address system for the stadium and packard auditorium and the rental of a platform for the speakers there is three cheer leaders at a football game the roles of the cheer leaders will be taken by frank overlees who was one of the original members of the troupe dennis landers pole-vault record holder in oklahoma and kansas and wilbur mccormack wrestler and gym letter winner at springfield college foster fitz-simons will depict 10 track and field events — broad jump shotput discus the hurdles javelin running events high jump and pole vault in the third number in this series the essential rhythms of fencing will be danced by fred hearn and dennis landers while mccormack will perform the training of a box er as well as the winning of the bout in the ring basketball dance ends suite this suite will end with a dance based on the rhythms and move ments of basketball landers cre ated this dance in authority was discussed at the meeting of the aero club wednesday night in room 466 packard laboratory this plan provides for the train ing of 20,000 american students so that they may get their of an illust rated lecture by howard j god frey engineer of tests wednesday night at fritz laboratory godfrey gave a brief review of the history and manufacture of cold-drawn steel wire and the eff ect of coldwork in the physical properties of steel he described a new fatigue machine for testing wire and discussed the fatigue properties of wire stadium would be used in place of chapel could seat 2,800 gift committee chosen ballots will be placed in the arcadia office in drown hall and the supply bureau this week so that the opinion of the entire sen ior class on the proposal to hold graduation in taylor stadium rather than the chapel may be learned this measure was adopted at the senior class meeting wed nesday in packard auditorium the results of this poll and the written vote taken at the meeting will be put in a petition and pre sented for faculty approval alan s grant i e class president told the meeting that an investiga tion by john w maxwell 26 manager of the supply bureau showed the chances of rain on the date of graduation to be one in ten if the plan is adopted grant said sections c to g in the south stands will be used by the specta tors students and faculty will sit on folding chairs in front of the stands and the speakers will be seated on a platform although the use of the chapel permits each senior only three guests the stadium which under this plan wil accomodate 2,800 vis itors will give each senior eight guest accomodations in case of rain the services will be held as usual in the chapel and the extra guests will hear the ceremonies by loudspeaker in packard auditor ium plan discussed last year this is not the first time that such a plan has been discussed by the seniors last year's graduating class voted to hold its exercises in the stadium but the plan was thrown out by the committee on educational policy expenses for the traditional cer emonies in the chapel should not exceed 50 grant said but the outdoor exercises would cost at least 150 because of the necessity for chair rentals the installation of a public address system for the stadium and packard auditorium and the rental of a platform for the speakers there is
