diamond head of the department of econom ics and sociology spoke to the group of students and faculty members on economics and the young engineer the 15 pledgees who had suc cessfully completed wooden mod els of the pi tau sigma key were inducted into the society at the formal initiation held in packard laboratory before the banquet originally founded at the uni versity of illinois for the purpose of fostering the high ideals of the engineering profession pi tau sigma now has 16 chapters the fraternity was enlarged in 1935 to include industrial as well as me chanical engineers the lehigh regulations will be similar to those in force in spring when arcadia voted to set up a new code with the exception that instead of the dink the freshman will wear the same type of hat as the class of 1942 is now wearing frehsman regulations are to be gin on the first thursday of fresh man week and will end on flag pole day in spring last less than semester the change in regulations for the yearlings came after the new code had been tried less than one semester upperclassmen felt that the code set up for the class of 1942 had failed to acheive the ends sought mainly because there were no means of enforcing it the freshman union was abolished by arcadia because it was never or ganized the present code governing the present freshman is one of honor the freshmanh hat is to be worn not by any member but only by those members in good standing with their class the result has been that fewer and fewer fresh man have cared to identify them selves as being in good standing o d k asks time to increase arcadia which had been await ing action by o d k on the ori ginal list of proposed changes in the freshman code drawn up by an arcadia committee called a special meeting yesterday after noon to act on the changes recom mended by the senior honorary it was o d k which suggested that the rules remain in effect until flag pole day instead of expiring at the beginning of the christmas vacation as freshman regulations have done in the last few years because the present freshman will never have experienced com pulsory regulations cyanide will be requested to set up the machin ery mechanical and industrial honorary has banquet the annual initiation banquet of pi tau sigma honorary society for mechanical and industrial en gineers was held last night at the sun inn herbert m diamond head of the department of econom ics and sociology spoke to the group of students and faculty members on economics and the young engineer the 15 pledgees who had suc cessfully completed wooden mod els of the pi tau sigma key were inducted into the society at the formal initiation held in packard laboratory before the banquet originally founded at the uni versity of illinois for the purpose of fostering the high ideals of the engineering profession pi tau sigma now has 16 chapters the fraternity was enlarged in 1935 to include industrial as well as me chanical engineers the lehigh chapter was installed dec 5 1927 o speak to math society two talks the fallacies in geometry and mathematics by albert e lee jr ch e 41 and the lives of some of the fa mous mathematicians by claude d gilchrist i e 41 were given at a meeting of the newtonian society freshman mathematics honorary wednesday night in packard laboratory honor system abolished arcadia acts on advice of committee odk also asks action compulsory freshman regula tions are back for the class of 1943 they were brought back yester day afternoon by recommendations of its own committee and of omi cron delta kappa the regulations will be similar to those in force in spring when arcadia voted to set up a new code with the exception that instead of the dink the freshman will wear the same type of hat as the class of 1942 is now wearing frehsman regulations are to be gin on the first thursday of fresh man week and will end on flag pole day in spring last less than semester the change in regulations for the yearlings came after the new code had been tried less than one semester upperclassmen felt that the code set up for the class of 1942 had failed to acheive the ends sought mainly because there were no means of enforcing it the freshman union was abolished by arcadia because it was never or ganized the present code governing the present freshman is one of honor the freshmanh hat is to be worn not by any member but only by those members in good standing with their class the result has been that fewer and fewer fresh man have cared to identify them selves as being in good standing o d k asks time to increase arcadia which had been await ing action by o d k on the ori ginal list of proposed changes in the freshman code drawn up by an arcadia committee called a special meeting yesterday after noon to act on the changes recom mended by the senior honorary it was o d k which suggested that the rules remain in effect until flag pole day instead of expiring at the beginning of the christmas vacation as freshman regulations have done in the last few years because the present freshman will never have experienced com pulsory regulations cyanide will be requested to set up the machin ery next year to enforce the new code club holds forum swarthmore is scene of society parley five members of the interna tional relations club accompan ied by dr amos ettinger asso ciate professor of history and fac ulty adviser of the club are at tending the middle atlantic con ference of international relations clubs at swarthmore college today and tomorrow the lehigh delegates to the conference treasurer ondra tells club of czech situation otakar ondra a graduate stu dent in civil engineering talked on the crisis and dismemberment of czechoslovakia at a dinner meet ing of the cosmopolitan
