the audience got many laughs at the antics of mis tol bottome portrayed by harry gunnison arts 41 and the typic ally collegiate personality of billy randolph portrayed by william barnard e e 41 john monks jr and frederick f finklehoffe the authors of broth er rat and recent graduates of v m 1 have captured much of the lighter side of life in a rigidly disciplined military school in their faculty lecturers give school talks howland elected art alliance head sutherland is counselor at caldwell high pi delta epsilon delegates hear lafayette head at convention banquet ends conclave addressing delegates and guests at the closing banquet of the na tional convention of pi delta ep silon honorary collegiate journal ism fraternity saturday evening at the hotel bethlehem dr willi am m lewis president of lafay ette college urged college editors to originate humor rather than imitate comics there is more real humor con scious or unconscious said dr lewis on the american college campus than on any equal acreage in the country unfortunately the college comics do not reproduce it very frequently writers for the comics are sometimes too willing to imitate rather than to originate they miss creative opportunities by too frequent use of the scissors and by reliance upon articles both risque and stupid suggests campus study dr lewis stated that the under graduate editor has more responsi bility concerning the proper inter pretation of the college to its clien tele than does any other individual on the campus he pointed out that the college editor is the reporter of college policies ideals and at mosphere not only to alumni but to sister institutions where his publication goes in exchange to parents and advertisers the closing banquet speaker de clared that on every campus a careful study should be made as to the number of publications which can be supported he indi cated that there is room for a good newspaper for a catalog such as the annual yearbook and for a literary journal he suggested that the latter might well merge with the humorous publication and be the organ of the undergraduate creative writing both serious and light summarizing the purposes of college publications dr lewis said the essential purposes of an undergraduate publication should be to serve the college community and its broader clientele with ac curate information to record pass ing blue network on feb 18 a series of skiing lessons begin ning at 4:15 p m tomorrow in taylor gymnasium will be jointly sponsored by the sportsman's club and the department of physical education under
