40 and john o liebig jr c e 40 competing sophs to be under direction of 5 junior editors fifteen sophomore editorial com petitors went to work on the 1939 epitome wednesday evening un der the direction of the five junior editors and harold i selser e e 39 editor-in-chief the competitors will spend the next two weeks gathering infor mation and preparing the various writeups asks cooperation the cooperation of all secretar ies of fraternities and student or ganizations has been asked by sel er in order that the write-ups will not only be accurate but will also be prepared in time so that addi tional care may be taken in mak ing up the pages selser also asks that any student whose name is misspelled in the student directory notify him as the directory has been adopted the official delegates from six states representing 14 chapters of pi del ta epsilon national honorary jour nalism fraternity began to arrive this afternoon for the 29th anni versary convention of the organi zation baing held today and tomor row on the campus following registration in pack ard laboratory the delegates tour ed various parts of the campus an informal reception and tea was held at 4 o'clock at the chi psi lodge members of the only wo men's chapter moravian college for women served as hostesses williams comments in extending the invitation to the national officers president c c williams wrote the coming of pi delta epsilon to lehigh for its annual convention is an event to which we look with interest and pleasure newspapers carry the primary responsibility of keeping the public informed fully and cor rectly concerning civic and world events pi delta epsilon therefore has a mission in considering what sort of public press will serve so ciety in the future this evening a dinner will be held at the beethoven maenner chor after which the delegates will be guests of mustard and cheese at its presentation of brother rat business sessions and committee meetings are scheduled for tomor row morning and afternoon all of these sessions will be held in pack ard laboratory official voting del egates for lehigh will be willet weeks jr arts 39 president of the local chapter of pi delta epsi lon and henry heckman arts 39 vice president of the local unit and chairman of the convention committee alternate delegates will be fred galbraith ch e 40 and thrasher t gray arts 39 to hold formal banquet the closing event on the two day program will be a formal ban quet in the university room of the hotel bethlehem dr william m lewis president of lafayette col lege will be the principal speaker invited guests expected to attend the banquet are president and mrs edwin heath of moravian college for women president and mrs w n schwarze of moravian col lege for men mrs lewis dean and mrs wray h congdon dean and mrs philip m palmer dean and mrs bradley stoughton and dean and mrs neil carothers robert f herrick editor of the alumni bulletin and grand vice president of the national organfea tion will be the toastmaster an exhibit of student publica tions is on display in packard lab oratory this represents the var ious newspaper magazine hand book and yearbook productions on various campuses national officers of pi delta ep silon are president robert h mcneil virginia polytechnic insti tute vice-president robert f herrick lehigh university and secretary edward e mcdonald carnegie institute of technology senior records to be filled out all seniors as woll as graduate students who will finish their work in june have been requested by the placement bureau to fill out cards as permanent university re cords according to e robins mor gan director of placement the mechanical industrial elec trical and metallurgical engineers are to fill out their cards under the instruction of their departments all other men will fill out their cards at the placement office according to mr morgan these records are kept for all men not only for those seeking
