games in the dormitories were incorporated in a letter sent to all section chiefs by dean wray h congdon yesterday upon written complaint of three students any student whose radio is a disturbance is liable to lose the privilege of having a radio in his room all rooms and halls must be quiet from 7:30 p m to 10:30 p.m and again after 11 p m every evening except saturdays games rough-housing bull sessions and other activities which interfere with studying or sleeping will not be tolerated in concluding his letter dean congdon said since these reg ulations are based on the minimum standards of the le high valley statistical society held saturday evening in drown hall dr allison butts associate pro fessor of metallurgy who has written articles for the magazine told breifly of the general value of mineral industries and of its importance in the field of minerol ogy after his speech dr butts led the group in a general discussion mineral industries published by mcgraw-hill publishing com 158 this year while the number of credit hours has risen from 949 to 1125 a gain of 176 hours the enrollment of women students has decreased from 27 to 20 more full-time students there are more students taking over 10 credit hours than last year and fewer taking less than 7 hours this may be interpreted said fort by the fact that more graduate students are taking full-time cour ses and less the main speakers at the twentieth annual meeting of the national metal congress held last week in detroit dean stoughton who is treas urer of the society and chairman of technical sessions presided over a portion of the convention dr doan read a paper concerning cra ter formation in arc welding which he wrote in collaboration with shang shoa young chinese re search fellow george l kehl instructor in metallurgy also attended the sym posium and was among the 26 representatives who attended the luncheon held on wednesday held in conjunction with the congress was the metals exposi tion enroll ed has decreased from 160 last year to 158 this year while the number of credit hours has risen from 949 to 1125 a gain of 176 hours the enrollment of women students has decreased from 27 to 20 more full-time students there are more students taking over 10 credit hours than last year and fewer taking less than 7 hours this may be interpreted said fort by the fact that more graduate students are taking full-time cour ses and less are engaged in part time work and research the education department shows the biggest gain having 44 stu dents and 142 hours as against 37 students and 114 hours last year the number of graduate students in chemistry has increased from 32 to 36 and the number of hours from 195 to 248 the biggest single gain in hours the enrollment in metallurgy has increased
