agriculture gave an illustrated lecture last night at the student chemical society meeting he used flow sheets samples and slides to explain his topic industrial util ization of farm products chemurgy the application of chemistry to industrial farm pro ducts was discussed by the speak er and the synthetic production of citric acid by fermentation was used as an example this process makes the united states independ ent of sicily in this respect since formerly all of the product was produced naturally on that island dr herrick stated that the re search division of the department of agriculture was cutting the cost of products enormously and men tioned calcium gluconate and its drop in production cost of approx imately 250 dollars a pound in endeavoring to help the farm ers the division has many pro jects under consideration one of these stated dr herrick concerns the proper removal of hides and skins from animals raised prim arily for meat in this respect the farmers of this country are far behind foreign producers the proper diet of young animals plays an important part in getting good skins as well as good meat stated the speaker a survey to determine the buy ing habits of lehigh students was started yesterday afternoon when patrick f adams eng 41 the first eighth man filled in his blank under the direction of rus sell e stevens jr ch e 39 financial manager of the brown and white adams was the first of over 200 students to be approached during the coming week by brown and white solicitors the students were selected by taking every eighth name in the student director the survey which was devised by george b rheinfrank jr i e 39 local advertising manager of the brown and white and stevens is intended to show the buying habits of lehigh students and the results will be made avail able to all student publications the last adequate survey was made eight years ago and although it is thought that the results secured at that time are still ap proximately correct business ex ecutives of the paper feel that a new investigation is necessary the survey will also eliminate the work involved in gathering certain information which is need ed every spring and was previous ly secured by different surveys the former surveys were also con sidered non-representative as they were circulated for the most part among fraternity men the eighth men selected in clude fraternity men dormitory men commuting students boys living in boarding houses and others who are residents of beth lehem the information secured will be sent to the new york representa tives of the brown and white and the review and will be used by both publications in planning their advertising campaigns next fall the following are the eighth men students patrick f adams herbert p aldrich bernard altshuler agriculture gave an illustrated lecture last night at the student chemical society meeting he used flow sheets samples and slides to explain his topic industrial util ization of farm products chemurgy the application of chemistry to industrial farm pro ducts was discussed by the speak er and the synthetic production of citric acid by fermentation was used as an example this process makes the united states independ ent of sicily in this respect since formerly all of the product was produced naturally on that island dr herrick stated that the re search division of the department of agriculture was cutting the cost of products enormously and men tioned calcium gluconate and its drop in production cost of approx imately 250 dollars a pound in endeavoring to help the farm ers the division has many pro jects under consideration one of these stated dr herrick concerns the proper removal of hides and skins from animals raised prim arily for meat in this respect the farmers of this country are far behind foreign producers the proper diet of young animals plays an important part in getting good skins as well as good meat stated the speaker a survey to determine the buy ing habits of lehigh students was started yesterday afternoon when patrick f adams eng 41 the first eighth man filled in his blank under the direction of rus sell e stevens jr ch e 39 financial manager of the brown and white adams was the first of over 200 students to be approached during the coming week by brown and white solicitors the students were selected by taking every eighth name in the student director the survey which was devised by george b rheinfrank jr i e 39 local advertising manager of the brown and white and stevens is intended to show the buying habits of lehigh students and the results will be made avail able to all student publications the last adequate survey was made eight years ago and although it is thought that the results secured at that time are still ap proximately correct business ex ecutives of the paper feel that a new investigation is necessary the survey will also eliminate the work involved in gathering certain information which is need ed every spring and was previous ly secured by different surveys the former surveys were also con sidered non-representative as they were circulated for the most part among fraternity men the eighth men selected in clude fraternity men dormitory men commuting students boys living in boarding houses and others who are residents of beth lehem the information secured will be sent to the new york representa tives of the brown and white and the review and will be used by both publications in planning their advertising campaigns next fall the following are the eighth men students patrick f adams herbert p aldrich bernard altshuler
