attracted much attention with a million dol lar coiffure especially among the few stags that were present many couples danced in the cool of the dimly illuminated palm room and others danced on the dining room balcony to joe's renditions of the old arrangements and the new hits saturday afternoon the tea dance at the maennerchor drew an overflowing crowd with beer pret zels and music by lou goodman and his orchestra the dance floor was a joggling mass of couples playing push-me-pull-you as the tea dance usually is and everyone had a glorious time dancing in their square foot of space the tired girls had no sooner rested their feet from the crush ing they got at the tea dance when house dance time rolled around all of the houses moved pianos divans and overstuffed chairs to make way for dancing after the dancing got under way there was a constant exodus with a scraping of fenders as the 600 lilting and i'm not a bit tired couples vis ited as many houses as they could in the brooklyn turn over and a little later the dancing space became crowded enough to hear the agonizing groan of a dainty lady when some lehigh brute bore down on her foot claude hopkins and his rhythm makers put on an inspiring show in the ballroom and constantly held the attention of a bevy of happy couples as a swing pianist claude was tops he could prac tically make the piano dance around the floor and do flip flops in the air his vocalist beverly white rendered the current hits martha and joseph joseph in a maxine sullivan way and brought down a blast of applause with her interpretation
