white was elected vice pres ident of the association succeeding harry archer arts 37 editor in chief who graduates in february it was also decided to hold the con vention next spring at drexel insti tute in philadelphia the editorial and advertising cups were won by george wash ington university and temple uni versity respectively george wash ington took second place in the news competition while second place in the editorial competition was won by bucknell last spring lehigh captured first place in all three helds of competi tion and last fall the brown and white failed to place in any field for the first time since 1927 at a business session preceeding the banquet held in hotel allen saturday night the association adopted a resolution resenting any action of a university administra tion journal ism the beat lafayette banner which traditionally hangs across the tay lor hall quadrangle for the week before the big game was put up yesterday but high winds forced its removal the banner will be re paired repainted and put up again late this afternoon the freshmen of the various sec tions have been organized into shifts for continual guarding of the ban ner against attack until saturday a short practice guard drill was held last night for purposes of in struction in 1933 this taylor hall flag was the object of an attack by lafay ette students and precipitated a counter attack to easton which brought about the suspension of 56 lehigh students a proposal for a revision in the method and mechanics of registra tion at the beginning of each sem ester will be presented this week to the faculty by the lehigh discus sion forum the plan has already been presented to g b curtis reg istrar and associate dean and has met with favorable comment the forum was instigated to for mulate the plan by comments by both faculty members and students who found the present system un favorable after reviewing the for um's proposal dean curtis stated i believe that the time has come when we will have to revise our registration system because of in creasing enrollment i am grateful to the lehigh discussion forum for their incentive in starting a move ment along the lines they have to set time the most basic change in systems will be the creation of a definite time appointment for each student to register this will reduce conges tion and the length of waiting lines in front of registration desks the students will receive their appoint ments along with their registration tickets at desks arranged in alpha betical order a student who does not arrive for registration at the ap pointed time will be fined and will forfeit his right to appear until the rest of the college has registered another important revision will be the pre-registration in all stan dard subjects english m prehistoric animal have been recently pur chased by the geology department states dr lawrence whitcomb as sistant professor of geology - one plaster cast showing paleo phonus the first scorpion enlarged to twice its normal size is a replica of the world's oldest air breathing animal this animal was found in scotland in rocks of the silurian age approximately 350.000,000 years ago the other plaster cast shows the arrangement of the bones in the paddle of a marine reptile the ic thyosaur from the jurassic of ger many this fish-like reptile lived during the age of dinosaurs about 150,000,000 years ago it is of par ticular interest as it has the same elements as are present in the limbs of our modern mammals said dr whitcomb the casts will be on display in the exhibition case prehistoric animal have been recently pur chased by the geology department states dr lawrence whitcomb as sistant professor of geology - one plaster cast showing paleo phonus the first scorpion enlarged to twice its normal size is a replica of the world's oldest air breathing animal this animal was found in scotland in rocks of the silurian age approximately 350.000,000 years ago the other
