cornell for friday and saturday lehigh was repre sented by c b welch c e 37 of the lehigh section of the pennsyl vania alpha branch of the frater nity the convention program included several business meetings two in spection tours and a formal ball two of the speakers were d s kimball former dean of the engin eering school at cornell and dean diedericks dean of the engineering school the lehigh chapter of tau beta pi consists of 16 engineering stu dents the fraternity was originally organized at lehigh and has spread to include 67 chapters all over the united states at this year's con vention were delegates from wash ington texas california oregon and other states an invitation has been extended from texas for the convention next fall but no definite plans as to the location of of chemistry and thomas h hazlehurst assistant professor of chemistry received notification that their jointly-written paper on the influence of evaporation upon the stability of liquid films had been accepted for publication by the jour nal of physical chemistry the paper was originally given in the division of colloid chemistry at the annual meeting of the amer ican chemical society which was held from sept 7 through sept 11 in pittsburgh at the meeting in the division of chemical education dr neville presented a paper on chemical light an advertising lure while dr hazelhurst spoke on an ap proach to the theory of lonization robert d billinger assistant pro fessor of chemistry delivered an ad dress on lecture demonstration experiments in the division of chemical history dr billinger issue pre senting the need for additional uni forms president c c williams has sanctioned the purchase of 30 new uniforms the additional men to be in the marching band will be measured tuesday and the order will be filled in time for the muhlenberg game on nov 14 professor shields plans to increase the size of the band to 120 men keeping 10 men for reserves in case it is impossible for all the own circuit commits itself to a selected thermo couple determines the temperature of the thermocouple plots tempera tures of thermocouple on a chart then connects itself to a new ther mocouple it can read six different temperatures every six minutes and can record any temperature for which thermocouple will indicate the james ward packard re search fellow in mechanical engin gineering is working
