states is not far different i admit that an educational sys tem which makes thinking distaste ful as a practice and the product of thinking an object of indifference or suspicion merely demonstrates its own failure to educate dr fur niss said the real test of the uni versities service to society comes when the world needs wisdom more than it needs learning and under standing more than technical skills training not enough one failure of the university is that it is too busy training men and produces technology at the expenst of insight too thorough a voca tional training is given and while
