adelbert ford head of the department of psychology present ed a talk on color vision to the lehigh art alliance friday eve ning the attendance was restricted to the members of the art alliance and their guests the art alliance is a new organization composed of producing artists of bethlehem and allentown dr ford is a member in his speech professor ford pre sented the two scientific aspects of color vision these being the helm holtz and the herring doctrines he then gave examples relating to his talk by mixing paradoxical colors in doing this he purposely mixed colors that gave a different color than the audience expected so as to create a discussion to conclude his speech profes sor ford told the members of his audience the reactions of normal and color-blind persons and then gave them a test for color-blindness letting them find out for themselves whether or not their eyes were faul ty in this respect officers elected allentown group hears of approach to post col lege learning smiley discusses clubs dean c m mcconn and e ken neth smiley assistant director of admissions addressed the lehigh allentown club at its regular meet ing on friday in the y m c a building in allentown adelbert ford head of the department of psychology present ed a talk on color vision to the lehigh art alliance friday eve ning the attendance was restricted to the members of the art alliance and their guests the art alliance is a new organization composed of producing artists of bethlehem and allentown dr ford is a member in his speech professor ford pre sented the two scientific aspects of color vision these being the helm holtz and the herring doctrines he then gave examples relating to his talk by mixing paradoxical colors in doing this he purposely mixed colors that gave a different color than the audience expected so as to create a discussion to conclude his speech profes sor ford told the members of his audience the reactions of normal and color-blind persons and then gave them a test for color-blindness letting them find out for themselves whether or not their eyes were faul ty in this respect officers elected allentown group hears of approach to post col lege learning smiley discusses clubs dean c m mcconn and e ken neth smiley assistant director of admissions addressed the lehigh allentown club at its regular meet ing on friday in the y m c a building in allentown after complimenting the organ ization on the value of its objectives dean mcconn addressed the stu dents on continuing education af ter college calling attention to the fact that few men past 25 gain any cultural appreciation the dean urged the students to gain a start in this direction during their college years cites cultural instrumentalities he cited as instrumentalities a student's regular texts should be a part a wide reading in current events attendance at lectures and concerts and visits to art galleries and museums he warned the mem bers that their first attempts to util ize the latter of these would be accompanied by an initial boredom but that this would soon disappear and be slowly replaced by real en joyment and appreciation smiley advanced the theory that all organizations are held together by an intelligent selfishness on the part of their members this selfish ness stated mr smiley arises from a desire on the part of each indi vidual to get all that he can from his membership and by compro mise this benefits a majority of the members he stated without dispar aging civic service clubs that the quickest way to destroy a club is to establish a moral
