the general marketing counselors inc will speak on costs wastes and losses in distribution before a joint meeting of the engineers club of the lehigh valley and the lehigh valley sections of the am erican society of mechanical en gineers and the american society for metals at 8 p m on tuesday oct 29 in packard auditorium dr carroll will discuss the ap parently abnormal rise in the price of goods between the time they leave the factory and the time they are purchased by the consumer a limited number of tickets are available to students who apply at the office of lehigh union in drown hall was research director prior to the organization of the general marketing counselors inc a market consulting and research organization with offices in principal american cities mr carroll had been director of research for the meredith publishing company in dcs moines lowa previous to this he had been dean of the college of commerce and finance at drake university the speaker holds the degree of doctor of commercial science from the graduate school of business ad ministration at harvard university he was also graduated from lowa state college during the past year mr carroll conducted a study of the subject on which he will speak financed by the twentieth century fund a dinner in the speaker's honor will be held at the sun inn before the meeting to pledge nine alpha epsilon delta to hear professor palmer three students and one faculty member will be initiated into alpha epsilon delta national honorary pre-medical fraternity at 6:30 wed nesday evening at the men's club immediately following the cere monies prof p h palmer director of the college of arts and sciences will give the biography of some well-known scientist pointing out the contribution to science made by him the men research fellow is working to establish a standard code for power consumption and output of various types of fans for the american so ciety of mechanical engineers this work begun last year is under the general supervision of milton c stuart professor of mechanical en gineering and chairman of a com mittee of the a s m e represent ing leading fan manufacturers the work carried out last year revealed that fan output did not equal under many conditions the output guaranteed under these con ditions the work this year under mr lusk will seek to determine the relative efficiencies of various types of fans and arrangements of intake and outlet ducts under var ious conditions and to establish the best locations for the pitot tubes and other instruments used in meas uring the work done by the fan lusk graduated with honors from purdue university with the degree of b s in m e and will be a re search fellow here this year and next working on fans both years additional research stories on
