the brown and white lehigh university's student newspaper founded in 1894 vol 11l no 7 friday september 26 2003 all the lehigh news first lecturer calls for change by david webster news writer asaf romirowsky of the middle east forum told students monday that peace lies solely in the hands of the palestinians romirowsky discussed current arab-israeli relations and u.s foreign policy the lecture was sponsored by lehigh's college republicans romirowsky who was bom in the united states and raised in israel spoke about his time serv ing as an israel defense force idf international relations liai son officer in the west bank dur ing the breakdown of the oslo accords the accords were a 1993 peace agreement between israelis and palestinians romirowsky stressed that true peace between israelis and palestinians will come only after the palestinian authority com promises and restructures its gov ernment until there is a full reform within the palestinian authori ties things will not change romirowsky said arafat's promise of a greater palestine is still intact and he repeated ly backs out of peace agree ments jerusalem continues to be an insurmountable obstacle of peace because both sides want to declare it as their cap ital which would have heavy b&wphoto by steve uluschak religious implications romirowsky said that changes must be made to create peace the fact is there needs to be an understanding that suicide bombings are not the answer and looking ahead with no change or compromise could mean all out war he said according to romirowsky the cascading downfall of peace came according to the bethlehem bureau of health there is no reason for concern a health bulletin was released by the health center last friday to all students the message included information on the student's condition and the steps being taken to prevent the spread of the disease the name and information of die student cannot be released due to privacy clauses the infected student has no symptoms and his tb infection was found through a routine test at the health center the usual symptoms of tb are a bad cough fever weakness in the body and chills according to the bethlehem health bureau tb is a disease caused by bacteria that can attack any part of the body but it usually attack the lungs tb in the lungs or throat can be infectious this means that the bacteria can be spread to other people people widi tb are most like ly to spread the disease to peo ple they spend time widi every day this includes family mem bers friends and coworkers the infected student seems to have a case of latent tb people who contract a latent tb infec tion do not feel sick and do not have any symptoms latent tb infected individuals usually can not spread the disease i am not really scared or worried graduate student steven lee said the chances seem pretty slim of running into the infected person according to susan kitei director of die health center the university is working closely with the bethlehem board of health to dining services hurt by gold plus by matt kapitanyan news writer south mountain gold plus deposits have increased 50 per cent as more south side and downtown bethlehem and that more information would be available after the close of the fiscal month on sept 30 lacking hard data lupori said he was not in a position to discuss he matter at the current time some students say they pre fer using gold plus to eating on campus i really don't like the food on campus antonio mallozzi 05 said i'd much rather spend my gold at deja brew or on a nice relaxing massage
