the brown and white lehigh university's student newspaper founded in 1894 vol 109 no 40 tuesday april 16 2002 all the lehigh news first dining services offers new options by christine donnelly news writer with pandini's grand opening in the upper university center two weeks ago and the unveil ing of campus square in the fall the food and dining options at lehigh are rapidly changing the long waits of the first few days at pandinis have improved as the staff now handles approx imately 7,000 transactions a week mike lupori resident district manager for wood dining services said there was a huge learning curve with pandinis because it opened in the middle of the semester the staff has come a long way especially in speed of service jason lenig director of dining services said pandinis has been very well received there is a large lunch crowd but an even larger dinner crowd lenig said it is a nice atmosphere and a good place to socialize pandinis is presently averag ing three times the amount of business that pete's arena had there seems to be some con fusion however with the seventy-plus menu items cur rently offered kevin shepard 04 said she is pleased with pandinis despite the confusion it looks to me like they have more food on the menu than they're actually offering but i love it i go there every day shepard said starting in the fall a board will be placed in the upper uc listing pandinis weekly menu ten pizzas will be offered per week and there will be four alternating specials but some students are disap pointed that pandinis does not have enough food for people on the run there are definitely not enough salad choices because not everyone likes the packaged salads they want to make their own yasmin deliz 03 said others however are pleased with the selection of food b&wphoto by tom steele chinese and mexican were poor choices because typically they're not lunch meals faith new campus eateries will open in august at this campus square site giving students yet another option for dining women discuss alcohol problems by amelia yantis news writer residence life coordinator and counselor gretchen hill held an alcohol sex and regrets discussion in the women's center thursday the ladies-only discussion program began four years ago with project impact and has been successful in getting young women involved in serious open discussions about how alcohol and sex can impact women hill revealed a number of facts about college drinking in general and at lehigh before opening the floor to discussion female college freshman are at the highest risk for a sexual assault between the first day of school and thanksgiving break hill said hill also noted that lehigh is at a high of a risk for sexual assaults as any other college such problems are rape sexual assault blacking out and drug use according to hill hill said she believes one reason why students drink so much at lehigh is due to the per ception that there is nothing else to do therefore drinking becomes the source of entertainment the goal of the discussion was to create an open dialogue and break the silence about the nega tive effects of alcohol and sex hill began by asking the participants to pair up and ask their partner to answer the question women want sex to be fill in the blank even though they often feel fill in the blank this led to a discussion about the regrets that women lenhart tries for dream internship by amanda gontarz brian lenhart 04 has a lot on his plate along with being a market ing and graphic design double major president of university productions a brother of sigma phi epsilon fraternity and a gryphon lenhart is one of five national finalists cam paigning to win a dream intern ship with viacom inc in new york city that's right campaigning whether he is selected to win this internship depends on the number of votes he receives at the burly bear network web site whichever contestant receives the most votes wins the grand prize of 10,000 and their dream internship the internship is spon sored by the aicpa's start here go places promotion lenhart said he believes winning the internship would be the opportunity of a life time he said he doesn't know exactly what his responsibilities as an intern would be from what i have been told it would truly be a dream internship in which i would pick the department and area of interest he said as an extreme i would like to do something where i can see the interaction between all the subsidiary companies and how that works but i would still be extremely exciting to work in the marketing division
