v-grams for the these hands won't hurt campaign in the upper uc last week the event coincided with v-week and was held just in time for valentine's day air products revokes six students 1 co-op offers by adrienne gerard last month local company air products withdrew its offers to six lehigh students for the cooperative educa tion program for the upcoming summer air products an industrial gas and performance materials company in the lehigh valley e-mailed the six students informing them their offers had been rescinded this was unfortunately a result of a dramatic year said joe lamac global career development program manager for air products the main reason is due to economy as the economy continued to suffer we had to continually re-evaluate the amount of students we could bring in beth mentesana manager of public-corporate rela tions for air products said the company regrets the situation and understands the impact it has had on the students we are taking steps to meet with the co-op office and students to provide any type of assistance we can mentesana said julie heckman 10 one of the six who lost her co op offer said she was just as surprised as air products i was very shocked and so were my fellow co-op students heckman said we were just very confused air products is a pretty big company in the lehigh valley so it came as quite a shock for them to be so affected buildings close earlier due to theft by alyssa cadue the hours of operation of williams hall have been changed because of a theft that occurred on monday jan 26 george yasko the laboratory manager of williams hall said two dell monitors and one 20-inch imac computer were removed from the fourth floor lab at some point during that weekend the security cables were cut on the imac other cables were torn from the monitors power cords were detached and the cables to each mouse were cut yasko said michael bubb a graduate student in the earth and environmental science department discov ered the property was missing i went into the room and it looked a little odd bubb said one of the computers that i normally used was missing and then i noticed the broken cords yasko said the doors will now be locked at 7 p.m instead of 10 p.m but students with reg istered key cards can access the building after hours on friday through sunday the doors will only be accessible with key cards students can register for a card by visiting the ees office on the first floor of williams hall i think that as an undergrad it won't be hard to work around the changes but some computer programs that other students and i use are only accessible in these labs said jenny lofaro 09 who works and attends class at williams yasko said he has some concerns for the future of williams it's changed the way the building operates yasko said i think that everybody is taking more caution but you can't lock every single thing down because the department won't function the estimated cost of the damage is approxi low ticket sales push back senior formal by allison rolish ■with only a few months remaining until graduation senior class officers hope nostalgia will increase attendance at the event after disappointing initial ticket sales the senior for mal has been rescheduled with hopes of attracting more students the formal was originally scheduled for saturday jan 31 at the allentown brew works said senior class president scott wojciechowski 09 we decided to postpone because we only sold 31 tickets which would not be cost-effective for our efforts wojciechowski said the senior formal is rescheduled for march 28 in the high gravity room at the allentown brew works for 45 seniors are provided a private party room d j food worry-free transportation and four free drinks wojciechowski said even though pushing back the date is intended to allow time for excitement to spread and in turn encour age more sign-ups some seniors remain disinterested the price and location of the event are leaving some seniors unsure if they want to attend krystal anello 09 is one of those undecided seniors i've heard mixed reviews of the formal anello said i've heard from many that they're not willing to pay the ticket fee while others think it's an important event laura kelly 09 said the cost is a detriment to her going it is rather expensive for a night of dancing and a few drinks even with the yip discount kelly said kelly said she does not plan to attend the event seetha chandrasekhara 09 who will be attending the formal said she thinks more seniors will sign up as the end of the year approaches i think that the formal is a new idea so people still need to wrap their heads around it she said it hasn't become a tradition like senior night so i think we'll see co-op page 3 see
