the time she entered the julliard school of music at the age of seven until her graduation miss miki's talent was developed by such dis tinguished teachers as mary louise sims 1 , carl friedburg gas ton dethier and muriel kerr for her distinguished scholarship and for her outstanding performance she won the coveted harry rosen berg memorial the frank dam rosch and morris loeb memorial prizes upon graduation the youthful pianist made her debut with the chautauqua festival orchestra un der franco autori playing the grieg concerto in a minor so successful was this appearance that she was immediately engaged for a number of solo concerts alumni set up fund program than in one particular course a major change had to be made in the syllabus because certain vital books were not available in the library ordinarily the books are avail able however the english depart ment source declared that viola tions of borrowing privileges have diminished the supply loss of books may or may not be attributed to theft said prof mapk we have no way of check ing under our present open stack system the books may be mis placed in the shelves in which case they may as well be lost open disregard by borrowers of the privilege of using the books and magazines often reveals itself through grangerism according to prof mack grangerism is a good dictionary word he explained which con notes mutiliation of printed mat ter guilty of this misdemeanor are those who scribble in the mar gins or remove pages from books or magazines missing are about 650 books according to a rapid count made at the loan the student-faculty group which has been holding in formal meetings for over a year instructions outlining the duties of class agents and class committeemen were approved by the executive committee of the council of lehigh class agents thursday feb 9 in preparation for an alumni fund drive starting march 1 david m petty 09 president of the council was in charge of the meeting held at the bethlehem club following a recommendation made by the council of class agents the board of directors of the alumni association at a pre vious meeting approved a goal of 85,000 for the drive the quota the highest in the history of the council marks the resumption of alumni fund solicitation after a two year layoff it had been a part of the university's 1 progress program on june 30 the entire fund will be given to the university as an unrestricted gift from alumni regional meetings of class agents are scheduled for philadel phia new york pittsburgh and the allentown-bethlehem area in the near future the system can be s-ummarized as follows the university would set up one checking account for all par ticipating organizations a central office on campus would handle deposits and withdrawals by check
