the students will be able to attend in choosing success for the theme of its third uiversity meeting omicron delta kappa senior honor group felt that it is a subject which lies close to the hearts of every college student for a successful post-college career plans and actions must be instituted now — in college university meeting number three offers every student the opportunity to crystalize more completely ' cornucopia initiates 15 business men cornucopia the business society at lehigh university held a banquet at trainers on december 4th to initiate new members 1 . fer ris saydah the president of the so ciety in his welcome to the new men stressed the point that hard work was a necessity in the pro gressive functioning of the organi zation guest speaker for the evening was mr boettiger merchandizing manager of home furnishings at the hess brothers in allentown he stressed the fact that a plan ned sales promotional program was important in the maintenance of a profitable company the society plans to take a tour through bethlehem steel co on the 13th and 15th of this month those new men that were ini tiated were clemens titzc 111 john r freeman 111 fred wiber alske anson e rabenold stanley w meyer theodore d baldwin david d rudd henry j enought richard w cassidy john a wood william f hiem jesse m monsell jr thomas 1 curtis peter w grea son and james h page tau bates hold final initiation tau beta pi held its final formal initiation monday november 28 at the hahoverville hotel professor doane metallurgy department at williams 1 college spoke to the initiates his main point was that tech nology has proceeded to the point where it is out of man's ability to use it wisely unless man can find a new purpose in life and direct his knowledge towards this purpose all those that were pledged were initiated they were edgar ker rick ch.e james a smith arts & eng george f thomas m.e the initiates were given three projects to do for the initiation first to put a tau beta pi ban ner on the flagpole at the top of packer hall second they were to shine the plaque in front of wil liams hall that was erected to the memory of dr e h williams the founder of tau beta pi lastly several were to make wooden rep licas of the society key william j hauze e.e michael j murray e.e john hacik jr ch.e herbert arnold m.e char les m close e.e frederick lang enberg m.e edward university will be the guest speak ers at the university chapel serv ices 1 at 11 o'clock sunday dec 11 the service will be broadcast over wgpa a native of north carolina dr pope graduated from duke univer sity with an ab degree in 1929 re ceived his bd degree in 1932 at duke was ordained a congrega tional clergyman in 1935 and re ceived his phd at yale in 1940 dr pope has written many books and in 1944 he served as ar bitrator in disputes between the men's clothing industry and amalgamated clothing workers mr conn unlimited cuts was featured at the second meeting as a result of the second meeting elements of the cut system presented by professor thomas t holme and now in ef fect were instituted among the speakers will be mr andrew e buchanan who is general manager of the rayon di vision dv pont corporation and a corporate trustee of lehigh uni verstiy professor william a aiken department of history pro fessor bradley stoughton depart ment of metallurgy james s ful leylove e p c s d a y morning for diagnosis of an illness as yet undetermined as of wednes day night his condition a s given by st luke's was fair on monday dr curtis managed to congregational participation will be asked in such fami liar carols as o little town of bethlehem and hark the herald angels sing gtod's infant son by michael praetorius a 16th century composer will be sung in the original german the program will include also let all aticns praise the lord a powerful antiphonal chorus written in the early 17th century the vespers will begin with an organ prelude featuring j s bach',s setting of the chorale from heaven above to earth i come as well as karg elert's modern improvisation on the same chorale mr george l ganst lehigh university organist will be at the con sole of the packer chapel organ after the performance of the prayer from hansel and gretel by the orchestra the full chorus will be seen in a candlelight processional 1 amid the festive decorations in carols and hymns will ring out from the packer memorial church as a 160 voice choir composed of the combined glee clubs of moravian college for women and lehigh university in cooperation with the lehigh university symphony orchestra present their annual christmas program on sunday dec 11 the greeting will be delivered by dr martin d whitaker and the rev george bean will read the christmas story i wonder as i wander a beautiful carol from the appalachian mountains and balulalow by peter warlock are only two of the carols that will be featured on the program under the direction of mrs grace h yerbury moravian glee club director and mr william h schempf director of the lehigh glee club and orchestra the vespers will present a program of old and new american carols as well as those from other countries silent night . . . attend the monthly faculty meet ing with his usual reliability his duties as registrar will be carried on by james h wagner assistant registrar the combined glee clubs of moravian college
