allocated funds for the purchase of cleaning supplies because allied main tenance corp has failed to provide adequate materials for their maids ac cording to the house presidents a brown and white survey of 35 representatives to the residence halls council found that most freshman representatives are generally satisfied with maintenance service m residence halls while most upper class repre sentatives are dissatisfied with it there are 55 residence hall representatives to the residence halls council fifty are house or section presidents one is a bishop thorpe representative and four are rh-11 representatives richard irwin allied project manager at the university would not talk to the brown and white about the survey of residence hall presidents because the firm's headquarters m new york has told him to refer all inquiries to george mailloux account manager for the firm mailloux was unavailable for comment douglas hayes 78 leavitt house president said our maid always buys some of her own supplies and then we reimburse her hayes also said the maid has been reprimanded by her allied supervisor for doing additional work she received a demerit slip because she waxed the floor when her supervisor had instructed her not to he said all but two of the 23 freshman presidents surveyed had no complaints about maintenance service most said they were very pleased with their maid although many qualified this by adding con sidering the amount of work she has to do however 10 of 12 upperclass residence hall presidents and rh-11 representatives surveyed expressed dissatisfaction with the maintenance service provided since allied maintenance corp took over maintenance operations at the university m november 1975 numerous inconveniences such as clogges sinks dusty furniture dirty carpets and overflowing trash cans were reported edwin tober 79 president of richards 2 said he is very disappointed with the maid service our maid has been here only a few times since school has started there's dirt and dust all over the place and the garbage is about to overflow our chapin returns harry chapin will return to the campus sunday at 7 p.m after a three-year absence his story-telling approach has accounted for much of his popularity m recent years lee requests illegal keys by monday byjohncopoulos all persons possessing illegal university master keys can turn them m on monday with no questions asked according to david lee director of residence halls operations lee warned that persons who keep keys after that date will be subject to disciplinary action the keys must be turned m to the post office m the uc bet ween 8:30 a.m and 4:30 p.m the announcement comes during a controversy over the unauthorized distribution of master keys in the most recent development william quay dean of students has learned that several members of a student organization had illegal master keys the keys had been duplicated without university authorization quay said and said the illegal keys probably had been made years ago and have been circulating since quay said members of the organization went to see him and that the matter has been taken care of he added he does not feel they keys have been used for any illegal purposes william quay women's clinic opens off-campus by sharon hirsch a satellite clinic of planned parenthood of northampton county inc has been opened just off campus m warren square the combined needs of university women for special health services and those of planned parenthood for a bethlehem clinic led to the opening of the clinic m warren square the clinic is located next to the university's audio-visual services office m a university-owned building planned parenthood will pay the university 1 rent a year according to james harper director of community relations the need for more adequate gynecological and birth control services than those provided at the university's health center was indicated by the results of a survey sponsored by the gryphon society m the spring of 1975 however it was not until late last spring when p lawrence kreider former director of university health services was able to respond to pressure by university women and come up with what he believed would be a more acceptable service for them kreider whose resignation took effect sept 1 informed the brown and white of his efforts m a telephone in terview from his practice m quakertown kreider said he learned that the family planning clinic on broad street m bethlehem was closing down because the state stopped funding it he said he found out from parr that the university had space available near campus that a community service agency could lease he said he next contacted planned parenthood m easton negotiations among parr harper kreider and marcy lusard executive director of planned parenthood of nor thampton county inc resulted m the decision that a satellite clinic of the easton facilities would open m warren square harper said the clinic's low rent is not unusual harper said he said similar rent arrangements have been made by the university with lehigh valley bail fund legal aid society and spanish speaking council and other community service organizations harper added that no long term arrangements have been made with planned parenthood and that the warren square location is considered a temporary help situation further negotiations between the state on behalf of the patients at the family planning clinic and planned parenthood led to an agreement whereby planned parenthood would assume care for ap proximately 800 to 1,000 patients lusardi said she added that a lot of these patients were lehigh university students the clinic opened july 7 and serves people of all ages from the northampton and lehigh county area said diane smull rn and clinic supervisor other members of the staff are kathy van arman assistant clinic supervisor and toni lambiase an outreach worker serving as liaison to the spanish-speaking com
