representative richard mcclatchy jr introduced the bill at a press conference explaining it resulted from the murder of lehigh freshman jeanne clery by former student josoph henry april 5 1986 the republican representative to the clery's ros emont district said he became involved in the campus security issue after howard and const ance clery informed him of their research on pennsylvania colleges and universities one of the best kept secrets in the common wealth indeed in the nation is the crime statistics and security measures at our col leges and universities mcclatchy comment ed
