after hearing of her assailants confession new york city model maria hanson said she thought her nightmare was over but in reference to her original testimony while under the influence of pain killers hanson said she had assumed the personal information she revealed was strictly to help her case but later learned all the information was immediately turned over to the defense lawyer and would become public information i couldn't help feeling like it was my trial i felt guilty like i had done something wrong she said hanson said her frustration peaked feb 19 1987 when she learned her severity because the committee is looking to nail the fraternities on charges of no alternative beverages or food at parties and violations of the trash rule on the hill deutscher said he added these are minor points and that type of offense does not warrant social probation the committee also plans to deal with dry fraternity rush which may open a new area of judicial activity the 12 other ijc members are appointed by the judicial chairman and boyd deutscher said he tries to put as many house presidents as possi ble and a few sophomores for experi ence for next year university's judicial system deutscher said the committee orig inally considered training a select group of students to try ijc cases but realized the system would be ineffec tive because there are very few stu dents who would have enough experi ence with the judicial system according to boyd my role is educational overall making the greek system better making the chap ters better he explained advising and disciplining houses are both com ponents of the role and they're not mutually exclusive i'm able to separate my feelings for the people involved with my duties when it comes to things they've frater nities done wrong boyd said he said the two aspects of his role are compatible because the disciplinary system is not purely adversarial but also educational the ijc will also be addressing is the newly revised social policy deutscher stressed that dealing with the social policy will be a game of compromise between the ijc and the university basically the university has the upper hand in those matters with the legal drinking age being 21 and we just have to work on some compromises to keep the freedom that we do have deutscher said it is very important that we show we are compromising and chairm an sophomore matt deutscher of phi kappa theta fraternity the main change the committee is working to institute is assistant dean of students michael boyd's role as both advisor to the fraternities and prosecutor at all ijc hearings deutscher said i feel that his roles as advisor to the fraternities and prosecu tor are contradictory he said i would like to have dean curran pro do club's exhibition held wednesday night in upper grace hall are slim because the damage being done takes 15 or 20 seconds campus police chief eugene dax said i'm very aware of the car vandalism problem and have beefed up the patrols of the area as much as possible car vandalism is a problem all over cam pus dax said the problem arises with the fact that the damage happens so quickly that it is difficult to apprehend those responsible chelsea ehring 90 a drinker resident said my license plate has been damaged and the bracket holding the license plate was broken off the car ehring said her car has been vandalized several times since last semester another drinker resident pam mcaffe 89 said i parked my car in the side lot next to drinker and someone smashed a beer bottle on it and did 350 worth of damage mcaffe said it might be safer to park on lower campus but that it would defeat the purpose of havi ng a car because then i have to walk back at night she suggested that maybe student see vandalism page 6 byannedontzin brown and white news writer car vandalism a recent concern among students has prompted an increase in security measures by police recent damage includes dented hoods broken windshields and stolen license plates and is especially prevalent in parking lots behind drinker dravo and richards houses drinker gryphon lisa o'connor 88 said there has been incredible amounts of damage done this year as a result of several complaints she receiv ed o'connor placed a message on the network server to provoke awareness of the problem in the lehigh community and to see if it was widespread i've received a lot of horror stories in response to the network message she said she said people have had their cars dented scratched and walked over and have also had
