body recently the names of the offenders are withheld from publication by wray h congdon dean of students and director personnel services the first action was the case of an individual in english 1 who had copied an old theme belonging to one of his fraternity brothers and turned it in as his own this is a case of plagiarism and the action was fully admitted by the student involved the committee voted to drop the student from the course without credit in the course and to place him on scholastic probation for the balance of the current semester and for the next ensuing semester of his registration athletic books lifted six cases of students who had allowed their athletic coupon books to be used by non-students were also reported to the commit tee in the past the discipline committee has never taken action in such instances the coupon book is taken up by the athletic department and the student is de nied the use of the coupon book for the balance of the semester in the future however it is to be understood that whenever such cases occur these students will be reported to the discipline comit tee for disciplinary action in addi tion to the forfeiture of his coupon book this is public notice to all students of the university's posi tion in the matter lehigh enters convention on model politics list meetings to select delegates to conference on politics government lehigh university will partici pate in the model political con vention conducted every four years under the auspices of the in tercollegiate conference on gov ernment the purpose of the convention is to give college personnel actual ex perience to how the national presi dential conventions work this convention like the real republican and democratic party conventions which will come in june and july will be held in philadelphia the headquarters will be at the bellevue-stratford hotel the convention days will be april 8-11 convention objective a major objective of the con vention will be to draft a model political platform which will in corporate views on current issues as college delegates see them the convention will be conducted along the same pattern as that used by the major political parties committees will be elected to re port on these current political iss ues which will be incorporated in to the planks of the platform each school represented will have one vote on the rules committee while in the general sessions each school will have votes in proportion to the size of its delegation up to a maximum of 25 votes george howatt instructor in history and government the department of music at lehigh the musical extravaganza is being supported by over 400 peo ple from many university depart ments and several women's colle ges as well as by several large in dustrial organizations the basic performers will be the combined musical clubs of lehigh including the glee club the band and also the collegians the chorus will be augmented by members of glee club groups from moravian ce dar crest centenary and beaver college for women in addition a group of lehigh gymnasts and a group of rotc men will partici pate certain parts of the spectacle require special effects which have not yet been used by any stage producing group in the country the technical staff of the festival has had conferences with leading technicians from new york and hollywood in an attempt to sur mount these obstacles plenty cooperation directors of radio city music hall and representatives of cen tury lighting company have al ready cooperated in working out problems of stage and lighting equipment the new jersey zinc company has also offered to allow recent developments of their re search department to be used for special fluorescent effects while eastman-kodak and
