original song and did a good job choreo graphing it the only minor glitch was the inclement weather brothers said they thought everything else at the competition ran smoothly the event was great dynan said considering the weather was bad it was well attended i think it came out to a really good turnout there were no problems at all and no one got busted not cole said mike dynan 98 said packard laboratory auditorium which was our reserve place would have been too confining it's not as open and it would have been a break from tradition contestants enjoyed the opportunity to perform i had fun had a strong showing taking first place for the sororities were alpha gamma delta and delta gamma with a tie the third place sorority was alpha chi omega for the fraternities delta phi placed first sigma nu came in second and delta sigma phi came in third the contestants were judged on a number of areas we were judging on choreog raphy originality amount of effort overall entertainment value and coordination and syn chronicity sigma nu president matt cole 98 said sigma nu raised 2,000 according to cole after paying expenses between 1,000 and 1,500 will remain to be donated the money will be donated to the lehigh valley chapter o the american red cross the brothers at sigma nu had decided beforehand that even if it rained they would hold the con test outside we decided as a group to do it tucker quayle 96 spoke at the spring 1996 commencement reed said he is excited to have his lather as bed races raise money for charity thomas h kean former governor of new jersey and president of drew university has accepted an offer to speak at the commence ment for the class of 1997 kean will attend the graduation cere monies june 1 both as the keynote speaker and as a parent his son reed 97 will grad uate with a degree in marketing reed returned to lehigh after working for live years as a stockbroker for prudential securities the senior class officers fell kean would be an excellent choice for a keynote speaker senior class president john franchini 97 said tom kean has demonstrated his com mitment to the community through his very successful role as the former governor of new jersey and held thursday afternoon at the parking lot behind the upper centennial buildings despite rain and cold weather the bed races organized by sammy were sponsored by going greek campus pizza cantelmi's ace hardware and the lehigh university health center the winners of the event were phi gamma delta fraternity and alpha gamma delta sorority both teams received 10 tree pizzas from campus pizza and first-place trophies the bed races which have been held during greek week for several years benefit the pediatric aids foundation sammy's national philanthropy all houses who participated in the races contributed 50 sammy also sold t-shirts at the races lor l to raise additional money for the charity the event raised close to 1,500 scott rosen 98 community service chair for sigma alpha mu said the
