versities and research communities investment and professional service sectors were also represented at the conference li kins who recently talked to alum ni clubs in florida returned to attend the conference and discussed the importance of partnership in build ing a technology-based economy likins said that it will be a panel like discussion with crosstalk about examples of ways in which we can news writer academic dishonesty is a major part of lehigh's code of conduct but many students are unaware of what it is and the consequences of getting caught associate dean of students terrence curran defined academic dishonesty as any attempt to deceive faculty into believing that what is being graded is your own work in the student handbook academic dis honesty includes such offenses as cheating on quizzes or examinations collusion computer dishonesty grade falsification plagiarism and copying homework assignments without acknowledging the help of others collusion is defined as students giving or receiving unauthorized or unacknowledged assistance all of these offenses are subject to review and enforcement through the univers ity committee on discipline any student found the university center sponsored by the black student union divestment issue questioned by andrea yonke brown and white news writer aside from the moral pro blems of dealing with the south african policy of apar theid there exists the related issue of whether lehigh should adopt a divestment policy lehigh is one of the few financially stable colleges in the united states which does not have a formal south africa divestment policy of the top 50 colleges and universities in the united states ranked moral stance there exist two paths of action for lehigh to take on the issue total and partial divestment this will impose pressure on companies to withdraw from south africa possibly resulting in pressur ing the government to change princeton yale stanford and cornell universities have partial divestment policies dartmouth college columbia university and university of pennsylvania have total div estment policies the progressive student alliance's psa major activ see divestment page 6 by endowment lehigh is one of three without formal divest ment policies members of lehigh's south african issues committee said they believe if our poli cy changes our position will probably be changes too traditionally lehigh has never had a policy toward the issue said willem baralt 91 co-chairman of the south african issues committee baralt along with co chairman chemistry profess or charles kraihanzel are leading the committee's attempt to change this the committee's purpose is to deal with the controversial issue of divestment and report to the forum the options they have in divest ment two years ago the forum voted on this issue and although there was a majority vote in favor of partial divest ment the low turnout at the voting made the results ques tionable this issue has continued to be discussed and the commit tee has been given the task to vote on it the committee is working toward having a re-vote in the forum and is attempting to find out which policy would work best until today there is no substantial proof that any poli cy toward south africa has been able to be effective against apartheid baralt said yet many people bel ieve that an educational institution should still make a inside news lehigh to hoslhomelessness awareness conference tomcffrow in maginnes and neville halls page 3 arts & leisure jazz great sonny rollins to perform at lehigh page 1 a sports
