lehigh university brown ana white bethlehem pa tuesday october 7 1980 mi i 1 1 k i vol 92 - no 11 x-rated movies evoke concern from trustees by doug rogers unaware of the existence of the cultu ral events review committee board of trustees members expressed concern al a recent meeting over the showing of x rated films on campus quite frankly members were upset lh.it x rated films were being shown on campus said the rev hubert flesher faculty forum representative to the hoard of trustees many members were curious as to what was being done about it they were unaware of the existence of the cultural events review committee which was created to handle questionable social events such as x-rated films flesher said that committee is presently being reviewed by the cultural affairs com mittee a subcommittee of forum xi which is due to present its report to the forum at the next meeting the cultural events review com mittee's guidelines are arbitrary and vague flesher said they always reacted to the films after the contracts had already been made flesher said he hopes the student activities council will defer showing any x-rated films until better guidelines are formed three ring shot bb.w pnoto dy vince luseffi a bethlehem area youngster found the area near the three rings of friendship on lower campus just right for viewing the new street bridge over the weekend scrambled ib&w pholo by 808 youngentob eight lehigh players assist m tackling delaware's reserve running back cliff cle ment m saturday's 27-20 win over the blue hens see story pane 12 policeman hit at sayre park gate by julie jaspan a university police officer is recover ing from a sprained knee after being struck by an automobile at the sayre park entrance on sunday sept 28 according to michael goldner 81 resi dence security director an alumnus identified as gary wip pick 80 of bethlehem ran through the gate and struck the officer with his car after being told he could not enter according to a campus police report he did not have a sayre park certificate or sticker and was told to park on lower campus instead the report states he accelerated and hit the officer as he drove through the gates wippick was arrested arraigned and placed m northampton county prison m lieu of 5,000 bail he was charged with aggravated assault and reckless endan germent according to john gombosi district magistrate gombosi said sun day that wippick is currently free on bail goldner and campus police chiel eugene dax expressed concern over the typeol people entering the lull on wee kend evenings the hill draws a 10l ol people dax said we have to be choosy about who goes up there goldner said many of the problems on the hill can be attributed to the tow nies whose prime targets are the hill and the residence halls they know there are many nice items m those areas goldner said if they can be kept from driving on the hill many problems would be prevented ." it would be very difficult or them to steal up there they would look rather suspicious walking down the hill car rying a stereo or a television " indecent removal exposed by surprised photographer by rhonda stoner the artist whose works comprised a recent exhibit m the ralph wilson gallery ol the alumni memorial build ing has termed the absence of two of his photographs censorship artist-photographer bill peronneau said nothing like this had happened before m his 11-year career and added that he was surprised and upset when he walked into the gallery and saw that two of the pictures he had included m the exhibit were not shown ricardo viera director of exhibitions and collections saitl he decided not to display the two photos because they showed pubic hair he said the decision on what artwork will be shown at the university is his alone this art show was family-oriented and i didn't want to get anybody upset viera said in my own terms those two photographs were just too strong " viera said he told l'cronneau to send approximately 20 photographs and that he would select several of them l never agreed to use them all viera said i don't sec what the i\h lc.il is this sort of thing happens all the time ''' although there was no formal written agreement between peronneau and viera peronneau said he was under the see tight page 8 see gallery page 111 see x films page 5 inside bomb threats p 4 yes tickets p « hens plucked p 12 next issue the next issue of the brown and white will appear oct 17 due to the upcoming pacing break there will be a meeting of the brown and white photo staff tomor row at 4 is p m m the b&w office attendance is mandatory for all photo staff members
