class work engineers to spend 33-37 hours in class most of the astp men who have come to lehigh have come from colleges in the south al though 145 of them have been sent here from michigan state college michigan had been the western most source for these men until 31 were told to report here from the far west when classes start on july 12 basic engineers will be taking 3 hours of chemistry 6 hours of al gebra and trigonometry 3 hours of english 1 hour of economic geography 1 hour of map geog raphy 3 hours of history 1 hour of physics lecture 3 hours of physics recitations 1 three-hour for the men to engage in letter-writing uso had planned a dance at the community center on the corner of brodhead avenue and packer avenue for saturday night but cancelled the affair because of the furloughs given the men they will probably make the saturday night dance a weekly feature the nativity church holds open house at the parish house at third street and wyandotte street on sunday afternoons from 3 to 6 there are group singing games refreshments and hostesses if any of the men now on the campus have any ideas for enter tainment which the uso could ar range i'or them please bring your ideas to the brown and white of fice or the publicity department off campus men hold organization drive the 43rd meeting of town council was held last friday night in drown hall at 7:30 as a special session called by town president ralph a evans eng phys 45x to discuss summer plans new officers have been tempor arily appointed by evans these are robert c ramsdell arts 44 secretary and lewis w hill m.e 44x treasurer as yet the vice presidency is a vacant position a membership drive is being held by the council for the new men who are living in town or for those men who have been in town and have not yet joined the coun cil the sections have all been or ganized and leaders have already been chosen for some of the groups those active representa tives are stephen s kutosh ch.e 44x sections a and m united evans section b ramsdell sec tion c edwin t pieskie chem 46 section d hill section k sec tions e f g h and j have not yet chosen representatives all the above named section chiefs are temporary appointees named by evans since none of the old officers returned for the sum mer semester dance planned plans are being made to hold a record dance in the near future there will be a slight charge for outsiders and members of the town council will be admitted free there is a possibility of a joint dance with the interfrater nity council later in the year a meeting of the interdormitory council will be held next monday night all non-fraternity men on the campus including the fresh men at price hall are eligible for membership in the dorm council a president of the council will be chosen at the coming meeting and will be given a position on arca dia the interdormitory council will hold its meetings on the first tues day of each month and the town council will meet on the second tuesday a change has been made in the meeting time of the interfrater nity council the council will meet on the second monday of each month and arcadia student gov erning body will hold its meet ings on the first monday cyanide o d k schedule meetings plans to extend full use of university facilities to army men move for summer dance is begun representatives from each company of army trainees at lehigh are to be asked to serve on arcadia student governing body at future meetings with full power to vote arcadia at its first meeting of the term monday night in drown hall also
