and art greenwood 81 are seeking the office of presidentfir tolriott6w*l4 sffldent activities council sac election running for vice president are kim per rone 82 and judy aigen 81 in another contested race incumbent concert chairman john nersesian 80 will square off against challenger fred schaufeld 81 lectures chairman candidates are tony bosco 81 david slutsker 83 and richard zwirn 81 laurence bertan 83 is running unopposed for the treasurer slot and kimberley miser 83 is the only candidate for secretary the brown and white yesterday inter viewed the candidates for president and vice president other candidates in con tested positions were unavailable for an interview amoruso said that as sac president she would like to get the council working smoothly as a whole several problems which must be dealt with next year include lack of cooperation between different university groups and the sac the lack of student support for the council and its small budget she said a suggestion for increasing revenues is a voluntary sac membership card amoruso said the card would be sold at the beginning of the year and could then be used for free movie admissions and discounts for other events amoruso also favored the im plementation of a student activities fee paid by each student along with their semester tuition but she did not think this would be likely fioretti stressed the role of the sac is to present activities that students enjoy especially social ones whatever students want i'm up for it he said his major responsibilities he said would be to direct and coordinate ac tivities of the sac which he added has not been run correctly for the last two years there were too many conflicts with other organizations this year be commented and like amoruso he said he would try to coordinate activities with other campus groups such as the inter fraternity council residence halls council and the dean of students office president of the sac is a job that will take an infinite amount of time greenwood emphasized adding that he would be able to dedicate as much time as necessary if elected greenwood said the sac position of concert chairman may be obsolete he suggested the possibility of a concert committee with representatives from different university groups voicing their opinions on proposed concerts now he said the university wants only * profitable events which is why a com munity event like the recent boat show was scheduled he said greenwood said he would like to see bus trips organized along the lines of wzzo's party express to take students to athletic events plays and concerts he advocates a student activities fee but he does not think we will see it due to the way tuition has gone up vice presidential hopeful per rone said she will be trying to promote more en thusiasm for sac open the paths of communication with administrators and other groups on campus and push for more concerts and lectures perrone said that right now the sac's biggest problem is reputation however through more lectures and concerts she said the sac image could be changed perrone said she did not support a student activities fee now because students would not accept it her opponent aigen said the sac vice president should organize lafayette weekend activities head the activities spirit association and initiate programs as a council member the biggest problem is the student apathy towards the sac aigen said we should promise them activities and then do them well she added concerts are just part of sac she said if we can't get concerts we have to do other chef aerb gretz 82 is assisted by steve worden 81 many fraternities cleaned up their acts for the parents this weekend while some just en joyed the sun phenomenal sci fi writer to lecture here next week the visiting lecturers committee vlc will present award-winning science fiction author isaac asimov next tuesday at 8 p.m in grace hall asimov who has been referred to by his colleagues as a genius . the nearest thing to a human writing machine a genuine phenomenon has been asked by the committee to look forward to the 21st century and make some predictions about changing lifestyles technological advancements and world affairs kirby krishke 80 chairman of the vlc said asimov was chosen because he seems to draw a lot of public interest and had been under visiting lecturers consideration for a long time according to krishke contacts for asimov were made through robert . davis of the american bureau program asimov who will be the last visiting lecturer of the semester is commanding 3,500 phis expenses looking back over the past year's lecturers krishke said he felt the program had been very successful and presented a good variety of speakers only one contact has been made for next year's program krishke said william f buckley editor of the national review is scheduled to speak on sept 25 isaac asimov barnes errico win seats to run forum xi next year robert barnes professor of philosophy and chairman of the priorities planning and development committee of forum x was chosen chairman of next year's forum xi by its newly elected representatives saturday phyllis errico 81 was elected vice chairman and aurora de la cruz 81 was chosen secretary-treasurer 1 joe rubin 80 and ed bogucz a graduate student in mechanical engineering were elected student representatives to the trustees chaplain hugh flesher and robert johnson professor of civil engineering were chosen to represent the faculty these representatives will take the place of outgoing officers david lewis professor of modern foreign languages as chairman caryn gorbunoff 80 as vice chairman and ruth kossin 80 as secretary-treasurer last year errico and rubin were student trustee represen tatives flesher and johnson held the same positions of faculty representatives in addition to these offices 51 available forum seats were filled in an election by the student body last monday and tuesday seventeen students were elected from the engineering college 12 were elected from the college of arts and science and nine students were chosen to represent the business college thirteen
