p.m when a call for a quorum revealed that not enough mem bers were present to do business it was the second time in a week that the forum's final meeting was abruptly ad journed because of the lack of a quorum a quorum consists of 18 faculty 18 students and two administrators 3b members of the 125-member body forum ixs finai meeting was spread over three days this year the body met for two hours on march 7 and acted on seven resolutions passing four of them remaining business on the agenda necessitated a second session the next day the march 8 meeting was immediately adjourned when a quorum count revealed that only 11 out of the necessary 18 faculty were present the forum convened for a third time this wednesday to finish its business the body passed two resolutions in an hour long session before a 18-19 vote on a motion to table the final resolution revealed that a quorum count was necessary only 17 faculty members and a comparable number of students were present at the time of the count and once again forum ix adjourned this time for good at wednesday's meeting the forum passed a resolution which advised the faculty to defeat or table for further con sideration the educational policy com mittee's resolution regarding changes in the four o'clock quiz schedule edpol's proposal would create six o'clock quizzes on two days during the sixth and eleventh week of the semester to help solve scheduling problems with the current overabundance of requests for four o'clock quizzes donna wolchok 79 chairman of the forum's student life committee in troduced the resolution and outlined the reasons for recommending that the faculty defeat six o'clock quizzes these included increased chances of several major exams being scheduled in one day within a three-hour period the probability of a conflict between exams and 7 o'clock classes and dining schedules are not sufficient to accommodate 4 and 6 o'clock exams the forum had begun to discuss this resolution at last wednesday's adjourned session and immediately resumed caryn gorbunoff 80 successfully amended the resolution to include the fact that the forum last week passed a separate resolution which advised the faculty to re-evaluate the qijnv for the regulation of 4 o'clock quizzes phyllis errico 81 secretary treasurer of the forum added another friendly amendment her addition stated that six o'clock quizzes would further infringe on the rights of students as outlined in the university's procedures regulations requirements prr section 1.3.01 prr states that students should be dismissed from scholastic work not later than 4 p.m daily david amidon lecturer in urban studies urged that the forum not take such a strong stand as recommending that the faculty defeat six o'clock quizzes in view of poor forum representation at edpol meetings so far this year he successfully amended the resolution to read defeat or table for further con sideration student assauited robbed witness describes suspect a student was robbed of 25 near the west entrance of coppee hall at 11 p.m tuesday according to a police report a search of the area by the victim and a patrol car proved futile but the victim's wallet was later found between chandler hall and the fairchild building this was the second such incident in two weeks bethlehem police were notified c the incident and given the victim's description of tbe suspect the victim described the suspect as a white male 6'3 about 220 pounds with reddish bushy hair wearing a windbreaker with lettering on the left breast a witness who got a very good look at the suspect gave a similar description the report said the victim said he first noticed someone following him as he climbed the steps south of linderman library leading to coppee hall as he reached the top of the steps the suspect passed him and paused temporarily he said when the victim walked past the sinpect the suspect put his arm around the victim and his hand over his mouth the suspect then took has wallet the victim said the suspect then told him to walk up the steps leading to lamberton hall and everything would be all right the suspect then fled to the north with the victim in pursuit the witness also at tempted pursuing the suspect when he saw him running across the road between linderman and coppee hall being chased by the victim the report said the victim said be did not see any weapon both the victim and the witness were supposed to go to the bethlehem police department to try to identify the suspect from photographs alumni protest x-rated film showing by vicki murk this year william quay the dean of students has received six complaints from the alumni about the planned showing of the story of o some alumni have threatened to take financial action some have said very specifically and some more subtly either that they would not support such a policy or that they actually would not contribute to the annual drive quay added however he does not know how many did carry through with this threat these alumni complained that the university would be lowering its stan dards quay said this last fiscal year alumni con tributed 4,126,712 to the university according to paul franz vice president of development the alumni really care about what the students are exposed to franz said and if the quality of campus life does not please an alumnus he might revoke his pledge neither quay franz nor jim neimeyer executive director of the alumni association could estimate how much money would be lost by the showing of the story of o this raises the question of how much influence the alumni should have on campus activities we should listen to them and consider their opinion since they are a part of the university quay said a couple of trustees also have complained about the showing of x-rated movies he added quay said the majority of the alumni would have a negative response toward an x-rated movie showing their reaction is why should the university become in volved in pornography quay said the crucial point is whether an x-rated movie should be considered an extracurricular activity or a central issue to the purpose of the university ac cording to quay since the movie would not benefit the student body intellectually it should not be considered a central issue also we should take into account that it might fragment the community neimeyer said he felt that students are not being denied a freedom ff a student wants to sample this it's not hard to do he can just go to allentown he said the university should not be involved with pornography any more than it should be involved in furnishing the action of a drug service last year quay received 12 letters concerning deep throat neimeyer said the movie showing was not known about outside of the local area we wouldn't be caught dead publicizing it to the alumni otherwise the response would have been bigger than it was quay said that princeton penn and other colleges have shown
