named as outstanding player for past week lehigh fullback chosen for maxwell award stan szymakowski brown and white fullback is to be given the weekly award by the maxwell memorial club of philadelphia for being the outstanding player in this section of the country last saturday szymakowski sparkplugged his team to its 28-10 victory over rut gers booting three field goals scoring a touchdown and kicking an extra point this is the first time a lehigh player has ever been so honored the award is to be given monday night at the hotel war wick in philadelphia coach ho ban will also attend the cere mony szymakowski who hails from greenfield mass is now a junior after starring for the frosh team in his first year he continued mak ing quite a name for himself play ing varsity ball the mainstay of the team last year he was given all-american honorable mention in a number of nation-wide polls including collier's magazine gives credit to team stan was surprised to say the least when informed of the award there were ten other fellows out there he said if an award is to be given the team should get it not me when asked what the team would have done without his magic toe he said they would have plunged it over the maxwell club is composed of former football players who are now coaches officials and news paper men every week two awards are given one to the out standing collegiate player and one to the outstanding player in scho lastic circles the club is headed by bert bell former all-american from the university of pennsyl vania and present owner of the pittsburgh
