arcadia by bill george in a busy meeting wednesday nigm arcadia passed a motion that if approved by tbe education policy committee next weekend will provide for four arcadia approved students to have voting privileges on the edpol committee at tha meeting which was attended by president lewis provost dr zettle moyer and about 20 students bruce berzin secretary of arcadia reviewed arcadia's financial status and the proposal for a student activities fee saying the chances that there will be a student activities fee next year are about nil norm mon ha it vice president of arcadia spoke of the class schedule and said that if any students felt ttey were being hurt by a teacher s re-scheduling exams ttey should bring their complaint to arcadia and we will be willing to interfere in favor of tte student in a period of general discussion stu dents and arcadia members spoke with dr lewis and dr zettlemoyer on the prospects on coeducation the need tor a psychiatrist at the university tte financial needs of arcadia and the need for new gym facilities on campus norm monhait moved that ln addition to tte regular members of edpol four undergraduate students chosen by arcadia be admitted to the committee as voting r.er_b_r at the t.iu__m four students are allowed to sit at edpol meetings but they have no vote monhait said that when these students were first allowed to sit in on edpol meetings it caused a tot cf controversy but now there has been s change in opinion jto s^d j^^____l-_-itth_^«o_-t ujihki bail imi tte students were a highly significant addition and since ttey have been a valuable asset and have taken a high interest monhait thinks ttey should be allowed to vote as regular members ia a review of tte financial status of arcadia for tms year and next berzin said there was little chance there would be a student activities fee nest year we said it would be difficult to get the board of trustees io approve of such a tax president lewis said later in tte meeting that one of the major reasons tte board of trustees does not want to have tte stude r activities fee ls because it ls an extra burden upon tte student after tuition is payed he said that tte board of trustees does not want students to be plagued with little bills that are tacked onto the tuition and that tte tuition would be raised within tte next three years anyway to possibly cover activities costs berzin also announced the price for tickets of tte spring houseparty as 3.25 with an activities card and 3.75 without he said that 2,700 tickets would have to be sold to break even berzin said only tour concerts are being planned for next year if tte first two are not very successful then the concert before spring houseparty will be can celled and if tte first two are very unsuccessful if ttey lose over 1,000 then tte last two concerts will be cancelled in ms review berzin said that arcadia needed about 20,000 but after shaking various trees 2,000 ls still tote spring weekend to feature allen ginsberg next week the residence mills council is sponsoring a spring wsskend april 18-19-20 in conjunction with the alton ginsberg poetry reeding april 20 the weokssu will begin with s friday nigm performance of verdi's requiem by the university glee club along with tte glee clubs of franklin and marshall and hood colleges professional soloists and a go-piece professional orchestra the format tor saturday and sunday afternoons tes not been determined yet but musical groups movies a dialogue on selectivity and several art projects are being planned an ng the groups being considered are smack and gauze sunday night ginsberg is speaking at packard lab auditorium a motion to pro vide flso tor rhc to co-sponsor the event along with tte class of 71 ths original sponsors snd tte class of 72 was ne d kmc tabled a motion to give ths glee club 900 to subsidize friday nlght psrformance a straw vote indicated that tte rhc would probably provide ths money rhc pssssd s motion to spend up to 75 for otter costs of spring weekend another 75 tor spring weekend may come from arcadia s finance and calendar committee due to lack of attendance the last two rhc movies tms yser were cancelled rhc has lost 000 on the al hlrt concert sa of now but is asking hlrt for st least 1,596 to cover the costs of ms last minute cancelling tms money would pay tor planus and other
