procedures rules and regulations p.r.&r which would allow students to attend faculty meetings as observers by the discretion of the chairman or by a majority vote of the voting members present faculty meetings could still be closed to students obser vers would be granted the privilege of the floor by a majority vote of the members present if a request is made before the start of the meeting the passed would group is arcadia committees under an administrative council of 16 students and that would require joint meetings of arcadia and the students on student faculty committees the proposed administrative council would consist of 16 students six to be appointed from rhc six to be appointed from ifc three to come from the town council and the president of the senior class the purpose of the proposed administrative council would be to enable vested interest groups the residence halls inter fraternity and town councils to work together in areas of common need as athletics concerts and lectures at the moment arcadia is in charge of about 24 committees each off which an arcadian is supposed to head and give a report about at each arcadia meet ing but according to don parsons president of arcadia there aren't enough arcadians to go around aad therefore some of the committees are headed by student body members who aren't officially members off arcadia even in tms situa tion parsons said a few of the members of arcadia have to head more than one committee parsons said that an increase in the number of non arcadians heading com mittees would be good because it would free many off the arcadia members to work in other fields the administrative council parsons said would put the responsibilities of the 18 various committees into the he ds off several responsible student * thus " centralizi ng and taking the power from arcadia and giving it to the students most directly involved with the activities involved the purpose of the joint arcadia-and students-of-s t u d e n invited students of student-faculty committees is to keep the communication gap between the two groups small arcadia chooses the members but after that seldom comes into formal contact with them so needs of the university mark parseghian and forest bast of the class of 48 mat with six representa tives off 68 at the bethlehem club to discuss the future off the 118,000 class gift the doer's will turn over to the university at the end of the month the result a letter has been sent by 48 class president edward k leaton to all contributors to the class gift urging them to endorse a plan which will give 100,000 to the fine arts center which was recommended by the theater committee 5,000 for a music library and s,ccc to help fund a summer program at the university for underprivileged mgh school students in the letter leaton also offered an alternative plant that the money be given o the unrestricted endowment fund with b decision on its use to be determined later however the letter strongly urged that the first plan be supported and it said that it had the endorsement off the class officers and class gift committee the class must now wait tor the returns to be tallied a final decision will not be made until thursday avuaing may 88 at the class off 66 meeting during alumni wsoks&d u has received 890 acceptances for class of 73 by dee mcallister by the reply deadline last thursday 890 secondary school seniors had indicated their intention to enroll in the class off 1878 this is a new record for acceptances to the freshman class at the university and exceeds last year's by 60 however for several different reasons director of admissions sam mlsmmer doubts that tns number or rresnmen entering next fall will be significantly enough larger to cause the university serious problems as concerns residence and classroom facilities one factor to be considered mlssi msr said is that 60 of those who have reserved places are area siuwßntß who plan to commute aad therefore
