mention for their displays acted in the absence of dean wray h congdon who was absent from the campus both sides are investigating the situation from the respective cam puses with the understanding that if no evidence incriminating a le high man is found the matter will be disregarded in the meantime the entire affair has been made a subject of student inquiry at least as far as the lehigh end lafayette gymnasium in easton late friday night discovery of the letters l u and the word lehigh splashed in brown paint on the lafayette structure caused a flurry of dis cussion saturday morning between marquis officials and lehigh rep resentatives the defacing was inspected by wilkes mcclave president of ar cadia and dr claude g beards lee both of whom conferred with dr theodore a distler dean of lafayette college dr beardslee inflation issue is radio topic m&c to give play on dec 6 urges brains tutor athletes the international relations club fall conference of the middle at lantic states will be held at lehigh during the coming thanksgiving vacation approximately 60 colleges and universities will send more than 300 delegates to the conference from new york new jersey penn sylvania delaware maryland and the district of columbia on friday and saturday this conference is one of sev eral being held at the same time throughout the country and being sponsored by the carnegie endow ment for inter-national peace several round table discussions will be held at regular intervals during the convention the follow ing topics wil be used for discus sion the challenge to democracy hoffbers over 2300 students and alumni attended one of the biggest lafay ette pep rallies ever held at le high last friday evening in the grace hall alpha kappa pi fraternity was awarded the cup for presenting the stuperman skit judged to be the best of the 49 skits presented by the freshmen of the living groups honorable mention was given to richards 4a which presented the machine that made a monkey out of the leopard and drinker 28 which presented the modern de sign skit the okeson cup awarded to the class that sponsors the best pep rally of the year was won by the senior class for the muhlenberg rally the cup was presented by walter r okeson vice-president and treasurer of the university during the course of the even ing several alumni and faculty members addressed the student body andrew buchanan 18 form er alumni secretary of lehigh was master of ceremonies other speakers for the evening were sunny edwards football coach glen w harmeson and dr neil carothers dean of the subsidies gifts and make-work projects the credit and banking system of the government must be set in order by repealing the thomas inflation act and the silver purchase act it must stop arbitrary and unjustified wage increases a new tax system must be devised senator thomas agreed with dr carothers in stating that inflation can be avoided thomas added that the government has already taken steps to dormitories for pretty faces which did fill every window the moravian authorities caught off guard last year when several enthusiastic freshmen broke all rules by climbing into the sacred territory through a window were well prepared friday night all doors were locked and guarded windows shut securely and inmates stationed on the second story — b * w photo entered the freshman skits in the
