distributed to the faculty last week â–  sanchez presently chairman of the depart ment of mathematics at the university of new mexico would succeed arthur humphrey who is retiring from his position as vice president and provost at the end of the spring semester spring semester i'm a little apprehensive sanchez said about the new job which he would assume on july 1 1986 to be perfectly honest with toxic waste fumes spread via the sewer system to other buildings including christmas-saucon hall fairchild-martindale library chandler-ullmann hall and linderman library carbon disulfide is a volatile flammable material michelotti said he added that when the odor was first noticed at approximately 2 p.m he thought it was a gas leak in chandler-ullmann the vapors may be fatal if inhaled swallowed or ab sorbed through the skin and can cause fires and ex plosions according to michelotti luckily this did not happen but could have very easily under yesterday's conditions michelotti said he spoke to the student who poured the chemical in the drain and the individual recognized that he did something stupid he disposed of it in an improper way according to berry richards director of university
