to assure that body of expense coverage for the interna tional relations clubs conference to be held here over the thanks giving holidays in its only other action of the meeting arcadia allocated 100 to the golf team to enable that organ ization to play three home and five away matches this year the club had originally asked for 155 the action taken on irc resulted from one and one-half hours of debate and discussion including questioning of the club's represen tative and treasurer wilbur e henry arts 44 despite recom mendation from dean congdon the club was voted no money out right because according to arca dia president wilkes mcclave 11 bus 42 the irc budget can be trimmed to meet part of the defi cit it is still questionable whether or not irc is a course society and no organizaton has a right to com mit itself to obligations which it knows it cannot fulfill says club relied on arcadia the irc had bid for and ob tained the position of host for this fall's conference without having the necessary money in its treas ury and had relied on arcadia to come through as it has for the past three years mcclave said at its may meeting last year's arcadia had declared that the grant it gave the irc last year was positively the last appropriation for this purpose it was felt that a necessity of applying for emer gency relief for three years in a row showed insufficient planning arcadia according to mcclave also voted to assist the irc execu tive committee in a mutual offi cers meeting to plan its financial affairs and to reorganize on a long term basis so that a recurrence of this situation may be avoided last semester the student acti vities committee after a private hearing with representatives from arcadia and the irc voted to in vestigate and completely reorgan ize the basis of student activities grants this committee holds pow er over most of the activities funds cites needs for funds the petition for the 135 was presented by welles r bliss arts 42 president of the irc who said that if no funds are available this year it will be necessary to for feit our participation in the spring conference our entry in the epi tome and rely on student partici pation in
