full or part-time sched ule at lehigh dean wray h congdon said yesterday while there have been students working at the steel company in past years this is the largest num er at any one time the dean de clared the men are working at jobs which vary from manual la or to operating cranes and working in the labs questionnaires are being sent to all the men working at the steel company in an effort to determine the relationship between their aca demic achievement while thus spending so much time elsewhere congdon declared the type of work the amount and so forth are also being tabulated because of the difficulty of find ing out exactly who is doing this work at bethlehem steel the dean requests any men who have not received the questionnaire to let him know of the fact if this is done the results of the study will be more complete the employment office of the steel company told lehigh men applying for summer employment that over 700 applications from lehigh students have been receiv ed i felch i e 41 was offered a position on the faculty of the brooklyn polytechnic insti tute as a result of the paper that he presented on centrifugal gun casting at the annual meeting of the student branch of the ameri can society of mechanical engin eers last tuesday felch will be unable to accept the position because he is an offi cer in the lehigh r o t c unit and will be required to report for active duty in the army after graduation this spring he was accompanied to the meeting which was held at brook lyn polytechnic institute by thomas e jackson instructor in mechanical engineering who act ed as honorary chairman for the affair the paper that felch delivered was given in competition with other papers by representatives of different colleges and although it did not take one of the prizes it won for the author a chance to join the faculty of the host school the meeting was a two-day affair which ended with a banquet tuesday noon at which time the presentations were made it story professor of constitutional law at harvard university lectured last night at the annual banquet of the lehigh and lafayette chapters of phi beta kappa on a constitu tional lawyer in search of a sub ject the banquet was held at hotel bethlehem dealing with the development of the supreme court particularly during the last decade professor powell told of the proposed chan ges in the court's make up and what has happened since retire ments of court members have made the appointment of more lib eral justices possible without other measures he cited several cases to illus trate his remarks among which were the suits involving the jeho vah's witnesses sect and the recent incidents in which legal actions were brought against persons re fusing to pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states sportsman's club outing will be held this sunday the alpha province convention of the theta kappa phi fraternity will convene at the chapter house at 1 p m saturday april 26 delegates from the chapters in this region as well as delegates fromthe various alumni associa tions in this section will be in at tendance the national office will be represented by curtis f bay er vice president and edward f kirchner executive secretary the convention will continue throughout the afternoon in the evening the mcgarvey foundation alumni association of alpha chap ter will hold a banquet for the delegates at the bethlehem club juniors to take exam pi delta epsilon honorary jour nalism society pledged six men wednesday evening at the chi psi lodge the following were pledg ed a maxwell paget mitory and town councils friday may 2 at the masonic temple the lehigh collegians will play and dancing will continue from 10 p m until 1 a m feature of the evening will be a series of elim ination dances and other novelty numbers members of the town and dor mitory living groups will be ad mitted to the dance on presenta tion of their membership cards at the door for others the price of admission will be 75 cents the dance committee headed by stephen t lowry c e 41 of the interdormitory council and donald w bedell ch e 41 of the town council had originally planned to hold the affair in grace hall chaperons will be mr and mrs thomas e jackson and mr and mrs joel f bailey the third annual outing of the sportsman's club will be held sunday at the mordele farm games and trapshooting will be featured and a cold dutch lunch will be served the group will meet at 2 p m at the main gate in the event of rain the outing will be postponed until the following sunday mr and mrs fay
