the air corps is now in a posi tion to accept 2400 eligible men every five weeks for pilot training this offer is open only to men who have completed two or more years of college education the men must be between the ages of 21 and 27 citizens of the united states phy sically sound unmarried and will ing to serve three years in the reg ular army air corps as a reserve officer upon the completion of a seven month course as a flying ca det education important it is the policy of the war de partment to encourage men to complete their education however they may submit their applications now and be examined if successful they may have their names placed on the eligible flying list after the close of school the marine corps will have va cancies for additional reserve offi cers on active duty during the course of the next year to meet the increased demand of the corps during the the limited national emergency proclaimed by the pres ident it is the intention to secure that the develop ment of the navy would result in need for a vast expansion in the navy's diesel engineering program the demand for qualified officers and enlisted personnel to operate the diesel installations being ac quired under this accelerated pro gram was found to be beyond the present capacity of the navy and it became necessary to utilize the ser vices of the naval reserve person nel however even among members of the naval reserve corps it was impossible to find a sufficient num ber of men adequately trained in diesel work and it became appar ent that a training program would have to be embarked upon lehigh and perm state were selected as the sites for this program in charge of the lehigh group is lynn c bartlett arts 43 was elected delegate and walter s titlow jr e e 43 was
