long these seemingly unrelated cases have one thing in common — all three came up before the i nterf rater nit y council's judiciary committee this year according to member bob hand 69 the judiciary committee has had a busy and diversified year over 50 cases have been ruled on to date we've ruled on almost every possible violation of university regulations this year hand said a member of tau epsilon phi everything from dirty rush ing non-payment of dues and the stopping of cars on campus to violations of women guest regulations and dogs in the u.c hand feels the most important cases handled this year were the hazing charges against psi upsilon and delta tau delta psl u was exonerated of a charge of hazing last fall after campus police found a psi 17 pledge barefoot with his hands tied one night in saucon valley the committee ruled that the responsibility in this case rested with individual mem bers of the house who were subsequently prosecuted rather than the house itself delta tau delta was found guilty of hazing after it was disclosed that pledges had been forced to run the hill as a result the house lost its women guest privileges for four weeks the judiciary committee considers hazing one of the most serious rule violations hand said he also explained that most infractions are punished with fines and/or suspension of privileges lehigh scores lopsided win in college bowl lehigh trounced indiana university of pennsylvania sunday night 2fi?-75 in the g.e college bowl television program and was awarded 3,000 in scholarship funds the lehigh team members were michael silverberg 69 arts major and captain of the team craig biddle 72 engineer alexander miller 70 arts major and seth frankel 72 business and economics major two alternates that went to new york witilthe team are jeffrey bowker 70 metallurgy and material science aad donald miles 71 arts the 3,000 scholarship grant is com prised of two 1,500 grants — one from general electric the other from seventeen magazine if the lehigh team wins for five weeks straight it will be removed from the show undefeated and will win a bonus for the undefeated season if the team goes undefeated it will win a total of 19,500 for the university next sunday lehigh will compete with the university of montana bach comes alive in chapel festival chorus excellent the bach festival returned friday to the university chapel for the first of the two consecutive weekends this year's performance the last that or ivor jones will di rect has so tar certainly lived up to its reputation the chorus is smaller and much better than recent years while the orchestra is excellent as usual the soprano so loist miss janice harsanyi is particularly impressive she has a beautifully pure tone particularly suited to the intricacies of bach last weekend the festival attracted little student interest although tickets to the chapel itself are next to impossible to come by the music is piped to packard lab auditorium 2nd if you can stand the sight of packard lab the music is well worth bearing the reproduction system is excellent and the musical balance is actually better than that of the live performance dae to the placement of microphones in the orchestra admission to packard lab costs 1.25 next saturday's morning concert of chamber music also will be open to the public tickets on sale for 2 and is well worth while a small but excellent chamber orches tra will perform an assortment of works from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m the festival oe serves more interest than it has been afforded as usual the prophet is without honor in his own country and students bemoan a lack of culture and then ignore that within their midst bach is not dead but alive and hiding in bethlehem appreciate him with the rest of the the 1960 epitome to dr lewis the alpha phi omega awards for service to the lehigh community were presented to h steward vanscoyoc and reverend francis suntvan university rha plain to catholic students in athletic prices steve haas won both the eastern collegiate athletic conference trophy for scholarship snrf athletic process and the philip megi-itn cup which foes to the moat outstanding runner on memorial trophy as the most outstanding junior on the varsity basketball squad and the chi psi trophy as the squad's most valuable man tom ludlum won the francis quirk hockey award for outstanding award more faculty planned sr students satisfied dr albert zettlemoyer university provost replied yesterday to demands presented at last wednesday's sit-in by students in the dept of social relations by saying first at least three and possibly four new faculty members will join the social relations dept in september second " the committee on educational policy will immediately begin a total review of our system of pre-registration and the complex problems involved with setting quotas for advanced courses third we will attempt to give high priority to the creation of an additional slot in social relations in anthropology for 1970 if the recognized need persists bill mcclintic 69 s.r major and the student who went to the college of arts and science committee to report the sad shape of the anthropology depart ment said the three new student-demanded slots in the s.r field were filled in this manner a the first slot would be partially filled by dr van hoey who will teach an anthropology coarse in addition to his urban studies courses the second slot will be filled by three visiting professors per semester thaoa adjunct professors would not be under the permanent employ of the university and according to mccuntlc might come from universities like temple or perm the third slot mccuntlc said will be filled by a consortium or if the recognized need persists a new roan will be found a consortium is a " c ooperati ve deal with other valley colleges where students from different schools are taught together under the same professor in relation to the second demand of the students that of restricting the size of seminars to 10 people mcclintic said that the edpol committee met yesterday and established a task force to investigate pre-reglst ration practices and were look ins into the possibilities of restricting enrollment and thus allowing s.r majors more individual attention the third demand that there be at least two men in each department and specifically the anthropology department mcclintic said will hopefully be resolved with the consortium or a new instructor the s.r students were temporarily satisfied with the steps being taken but mcclintic said they have organized them selves and have representatives sitting in on faculty committees they can if necessary apply force if things do not progress to their satisfaction so far only 18 per rent of the 1
