semesters the council has been at work to improve its record on campus effects of this campaign are evident in the new co-operative buying plan and the newly instituted greek week in keeping with this effort i.f.c raised the minimum fraternity cumulative average to either 1.95 or 0.35 below the all-university average the faculty has set the minimum average for all living groups at 1.80 which applies to both fraternities and residence halls richard roca 66 chairman of the i.f.c scholastic committee considers the 1.80 average not realistic in the light of an increasing all-university average he stated that in past years the fraternity average had been well above the all-university average but that recently it has fallen off the pace the new i.f.c regulation is an attempt to encourage fraternities to put a greater emphasis on academics the regulation will go into effect this semester should a fraternity's semester average fall below the required 1.95 it will be placed on i.f.c probation this would be in effect the first semester a chap ter's average falls below the minimum the regular university pro bation will go into effect the second consecutive semester a fraternity fails to meet the university minimum of 1.80 ■i.f.c probation consists of various restrictions on semester social activities the degree of restric i tion upon i decision scholarship i committee and a representative i the dean after a fraternity has on i probation for sem i its case reconsid i in the social i restrictions may be the decision to change the i scholarship criteria for roberts with the first round of hour lies past ifc weekend signaled the start of springtime festivities for lehigh fraternities this year's weekend featured a bed race the miss ifc contest and a beard contest in addition to the usual concert play and parties the most popular new attrac tion of ifc weekend was the bed race according to tony narduccl 67 chairman of the race 11 teams finished two didn't make it narduccl added i think the bed race will be done again next year as one of the high points of the weekend delta tau delta finished first with the sparkling time of 3:07 minutes they were followed by delta chi pi kappa alpha and chi phi in that order ' " we didn't get the cooperation we wanted from the campus police in blocking off the campus roads phi gamma delta and delta tau delta formed a human block in the road and kept most of the cars out narduccl said he added " beta theta pi's bed broke on the first turn and they finally finished carrying the bed all the way the ramsey lewis trio and approximately 3,300 spectators joined together in a hand-clap ping floor stampingconcert.don proctor 66 chairman of the concert stated i thought the m&m students lose 14 laundry bundles the mary macintosh laundry service was a little worse than usual this week — 14 bundles of laundry never came back to mcclintlc mar shall residents actually it was not the allen laundry's fault nor waa it the fault of of the residence halls concessionaires for the laundry was stolen sometime thursday night according to james h tiefenbrunn 66 rhc president the agents for the laundry collect bundles thursday nights on the first floor of m&m for one and a half hours people who do not turn in their laundry during the alloted time usually leave it outside the door of the con cession room the route driver picks up all the bundles the next morning however tiefenbrunn said apparently someone came sometime thursday night and took 14 bags the laundry said that none of the bags in question had ever arrived the route man had not seen them either according to tiefenbrunn i think campus policemen found some of the laundry on the hill but only very little tiefenbrunn said what was found he added con mishaps mar weekend ifc weekend was marred by two accidents involving members of two lehigh fraternities harris m eaton 67 a member of delta tau delta was seriously injured when he flipped his austin healey sports car on black river rd in saucon valley at approx imately 4:15 a.m last friday morning a motorcycle operated by war ren burnard 66 of psi upsilon ran into a car turning into the driveway of alpha tau omega about 4:30 p.m friday afternoon sending burnard to st luke's hospital with a compound fracture of the lower left arm according to lower . saucon twp police eaton was report edly traveling east at a high rate of speed on black river road when he came to the " t inter section at bingen road about one mile from route 191 unable to stop mi car he went through the intersection and onto the property of t.e dalby where the car landed on its side against a tree 214 feet from the road and burst into flames eaton was apparently thrown from the car upon impact police reportedly found branches damaged 10 feet from the ground and theorized that eaton had apparently been thrown that high clothing and packages were strewn around the scene where they were hurled as the car rolled across th yard and slammed into the tree dalby called the se-wy-co fire company to extinguish the fire but before it could be queued the car was burnt almost beyond recognition after the blaze had been extinguished police and firemen searched the area to determine if anyone else had been in the car eaton was taken to st luke's hospital where he was admitted in serious condition with severe head bruises and scalp cuts as of sunday night he still remained in serious condition with only me mbers of the immediate family being admitted to his room burnard was reportedly riding his cycle around sayre park when he slammed into a car driven by stuart j llpoff 68 llpoff was reportedly turning into the driveway of ato at the time burnard suffered a fracture of the lower left arm and
