one new sorority will colonize on cam pus in mid-october and there is a possi bility that a second one will also colonize later this semester according to larry philippi assistant to the dean for frater nity and sorority affairs the sorority selection process began last april when forum xiii passed a resolution to provide for the existing sor orities to move to the centennial com plex along with a new one philippi said the resolution is needed he said because of the growing popularity of sor orities and the inability of existing soror ities to accommodate interested women he also said there is a need to integrate more women on campus the panhellenic council panhel , the forum and the residence halls council rhc worked on an agreement to facili tate the move the agreement reached is one by which the sororities recruit resi new sorority to colonize panhel considers another see sororities page 7 dence halls students to live in saucon married and graduate students smags units he said as each smags unit is filled a sorority will move into a centennial unit selecting which sorority to bring on campus was a lengthy process that began last spring and ended early this semester when the final choice was reached by panhel philippi said the competition was narrowed down to six sororities philippi continued adding that after thorough investigation three sororities were selected as finalists on aug 29 and 30 the local alumni and national representatives from each of the three sororities came to campus to give final presentations on financial capabilities local alumni where alcohol is served that potential is much higher at a hotel party there is a certain ethos at a hotel party that encourages sampling of each different drink quay said cocktail parties deemed decided that the parties would be put on hold until the university could sit down with student leaders and totally review the whole question of hotel parties according to quay irresponsible drinking
