the balance be tween individual instruments was masterful no single instrument overpowered another unless the composer intended it by tim wentworth eyecatching reviews are written about performances that deserve plenty of juicy insulting vocabu lary but this approach can't be used in describing wednesday night's a n cleaver concert those who came to look for mis takes and have a private chuckle were dismally bored but the rest of the 200 listeners were absorbed enough by the practiced precision to suppress the usual coughing and chair creaking the program presented in the university center consisted of chamber music by mozart and brahms and three folk dances by bartok it was performed magai jenson granted leave for study in europe the growth and influence of lehigh's new political party first expressed itself wednesday night as three of the four lsap arcadia candidates were elected by student ballot lsap sponsored four of the 20 candidates under the party's plat form aimed at what party chair man richard babin called provid ing a stimulus for arcadia babin said he felt that the elec tion indicated a desire on the part of the students for a reacti vated and energized arcadia dr finn b jensen professor of economics has been granted a leave of absence for the 1964 spring semester to study regional plan ning in the common market dr jensen will spend the first half of his leave studying the com mon market from united states sources he will then travel to europe to observe the actual operation of the common market a native of norway dr jensen was a representative of the amer ican economic association at the 1961 conference of the northern european association in oslo norway he has been a member of the lehigh faculty since 1947 and pro fessor of economics since 1954 in 1956 he was named director of the newly formed foreign careers major in the college of arts and science he is a member of lehigh's four-man college honors program council which directs a program of advanced study for undergraduates before joining the lehigh faculty dr jensen spent three years in the foreign service of the u.s state department in sweden den mark and england he was awarded the medal of freedom for his work with the government dr jensen is a member of the american finance association and pi gamma mv national social science honorary ballot count — members of the election robert a marmon 65 stewart early 66 william mor 66 maury poscover 66 charles zall 66 and steven mandell 66 followed harper into office on succeeding transfers of ballots under the hare system of balloting a candidate must receive at least 17.5 votes the electoral quota before he is elected candidates are eliminated through transfers of votes until each of the seven seats has been filled a total of 1,392 votes were cast during the three days of voting one of the highest totals reached in arcadia elections in several years the figure is more than 100 votes over last year's total the 175 quota was reached using the hare formula the total num ber of votes is divided by one more than the number of seats to be filled the resulting figure is known as the droop quota thirteen transfers
